Being in love with two people may be more common than some think. Studies show that many individuals worldwide identify as polyamorous, meaning they partake in a romantic relationship with or feel attracted to more than one individual at a time. What are your thoughts? Can you be in love with 2 people?

I believe you can be "in love" with one person and still love another but there is a difference between being "in love" and loving!!

There are many places in the world that provide school lunches (in Japan it is included in their school fees for example) and in various parts of the world breakfast is provided either by schools and/or charities. In Australia, many parents are used to child care centres usually providing meals (or certain ones) and including the cost in their daily fees. With our busy society - more families having both parents work and the increase amount of obesity, do you think it would...

I think it is amazing how many parents are not prepared to be parents and want other people to work for them. More and more areas. Maybe parents who want this should give their children away to someone who will care for them 100 %. BTW we in Australia dont get paid or work the hours in Japan or other countries.
PARENTS are 100% responsible for their children. THIS IS FACT and anyone who get 'offended' can just ignore this comment.

Do you think it is the responsibility of all tax owners to support these youth offenders? Why I ask is that, why aren't the parents of these youths own their responsibilities to their child or children's? They created them, if I owned a mansion they would be living with me under the tikanga o So Maori
The dog house
Instead of putting these offenders in jail I would place them in the Army. Then maybe they might get the right discipline that their parents were not able to give them.

Wouldn't you rather be 40 single with no unwanted obligations because you haven't met the right person? or 40 and single after having to get out of a relationship with the wrong person and responsibilities that need to be sorted out? When and if you are ready - until then take your time and enjoy your life.

Whether we like it or not, change is coming and appears to be influencing all aspects of our life. Whether it be technology, ways of thinking or beliefs, education and even living situations. How are you adapting to change, and what are some things you have found helpful and ways to be more receptive to new things? Or are you happy to stay with what you know and what works?

"Change" is too wide a category. Some changes are good, some changes are bad, and some are just ridiculously silly.

The Kardashian Family is a very controversial topic. Most people just skim over the facts and assume that everything they see on social media is true and factual. However, they are just people, and everyone chooses to depict them as these horrible, spoilt, no-talent, plastic filled monsters. However, this is so far from the truth. Do not judge someone before you get to know them. Do you agree?
peteqbn
They may or may not be nice people, but let's face it, they're famous for being famous. None of them has achieved very much apart from looking good on camera & attracting a social media following. I don't wish them ill, but my disinterest in them is total.

Tipping in the United States is on the rise, and experts are calling it tipflation. In the fourth quarter of 2022, the number of tips provided at full-service restaurants grew by 17% from the fourth quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, the tip frequency at quick-service restaurants rose 16% during the same time period. The pressure to tip well in front of the tip receiver, before a service is completed, or in front of other customers makes a difference for many. After...

I have this issue with doing washing every single day for our now 11 and a half year old. The GP says it's a phase that he will overcome. My girlfriend wants to keep on using these night pant products called dry nights.... I told her that we would be better off taking him to a pediatrician or something alike... Being our first, my question is does make a near 12-year-old wear these products to bed do more harm than good? He also has camp coming up in late August......
Liane H
It's quite common in boys, My son was the same. Except we didn't have those in that sizing back then so it was bed liners and washing each day . There is a nasal spray that can help to slow things down, but basically in most cases it's simply hormonal,( the hormone responsible for concentrating the urine overnight is less present than it should be) and you will find once the 12yr mark kicks in or soon after ,. It will just stop. It's very frustrating I do remember ,but it's important not to let your child feel like it's an issue, They can't help it, It's not from trauma and it's not going to help restricting drinks before bed either. There are plenty of tips online . Don't bother with the bell and pad system either,, all it does is wake the child up when they wet with an alarm and interrupts their sleep often twice a night, more! .. not worth it . As I say it will just miraculously stop once his hormones kick in . Hope that helps some :)

of quiet birds in morning light, I am the starshine, soft at night.
Please don't be sad and do not cry, for it's not me there, I will not die

What does everyone think of these people claiming that they re a sovereign citizen or similar and trying to use it as an excuse to not pay taxes, registration, and have licenses etc?
lippy loo
They are anti government extremists. In Australia all of a sudden they seem to be voicing this and going to court but so far the courts have not agreed with any of their so called legal spiel. They believe they are not under the laws of the government, do not pay taxes, car registration, etc. however, they use the health system, roads, and everything the tax payer pays for. The police in this country are really getting fed up with them and the fact they use up our legal systems time. Some use it I think to get 15 minutes of fame, some use it to be recognised and get TV interviews so they can sprout more nonsense, and some I fear really believe this rubbish, and some just follow USA movements. I am so over all these conspiracy theorists, activists, etc. They are not helping the world at all.

There are some clothing fashions around that I find really ugly, and I always find myself wondering who on earth would buy them. It's not only the style, but the colours are mostly dull and uninspiring as well. At the end of each season, I have a bit of a laugh because I often see these ugly clothes in the clearance bin. Are there any fashions, if any, that make you cringe?

I recently spoke to a friend. She has decided to go into a nursing home as she dislikes living on her own. While her children see to her needs, she rarely sees her grandchildren. People go about their lives while working and going out etc. Could they spare half an hour a week or even a fortnight to visit their grandmother that is lonely? It is sad to see and hear how people act towards someone who once also had a full life.
Kerry Z
I liked the show on the ABC where they took the schoolchildren to visit the nursing homes. The people living there got so much out of it & the children also benefited from the intertactions.

Tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of people were unemployed in the Great Depression. When the stock market crashed, failure of government policies, bank failures, the collapse of money supply, and the collapse of world trade due to the Smoot-Hawley Tariff in 1929 and the 1930s, many people in the world in the Great Depression are unemployed and/or losing their jobs. My Mother said when she met my Grandmother for the first time, she noticed 2 of their plates were chipped. Instead of helping to wash them up she deliberately dropped them, smashing them to pieces. She said now you will have to get new ones! What do you think about eating/drinking from chipped or cracked kitchenware? Do you think it s offensive to serve up your guests on such decor?
BLM
It is NOT the quality (chipped or cracked) of the kitchenware that counts, it is the quality of the food being served to you in a personal (or family) setting THAT counts! I appreciate the time it took to serve a well-cooked meal - not the appearance of the kitchenware - as long as the kitchenware is clean and safe to eat from - Bon Appetit :-))!

My Korean friend has given me this recipe. Gosh, it is so good and easy to make. The best thing is you can get all the ingredients from normal supermarkets. You don't need to make a special trip to Asian supermarkets to get ingredients! Ditching the phone on holiday allows for deeper immersion in surroundings, reduced anxiety, and better connection with travel companions. Key strategies include notifying others of your break, using physical cameras/maps, setting strict, limited hours for checking, or opting for a "flip phone summer" to avoid distractions. Would you agree to such an idea?

As Karen said, on holidays my phone is for emergencies only - like the time we were in Darwin and we got the call saying our alarm had gone off at home in South Australia - security guard found a very large Huntsman spider sitting on one of the alarm sensors!

People often do not think about their habits, rituals, and routines at all because those are so ingrained into our personalities. But when you discover those little things that you happen to do similarly, it can bring you together, because they make you feel alike in some way Do you do something that one of your family does, and you find it funny and then realise you do it too? Do you read every night before going to bed? Do you talk to your plants?

We know about growing herbs and not wasting food... the single most important piece of equipment you need is a large chest freezer... (even two) THAT is your best friend... you will be surprised at just how much you can freeze... and just how much supermarkets can discount food... they will almost give chicken and pork away... my dog is eating VIP food that costs $8 a kilo, and it costs me $3... my mushrooms usually cost $5 or $6 a kilo rather than $13 you can...
Chrissie
Hi APB, we have a vacuum sealer & frozen food lasts so much longer when sealed this way. We have a great vege garden & we are fisherman, so have lots on hand in the freezer. It is also a good idea to have an infirmary of what is in the freezer. Our frozen food is also dated so we know to use the older food first.

I wish kids would realize their parents were once their age, and there is no manual on doing the right or wrong thing, because when it comes down to it, we are all learning how to deal with and take care of things. In 1994, 62 children ages 6 to 12 outside their school yard in Ruwa, Zimbabwe. Some of the children saw one or more silver craft land on a nearby field and some of the children claim one or more creatures dressed in black approached and communicated telepathically an environment message to them. The children who saw them drew the same drawings of the creatures. This is a true story. Believe it or not.

It’s strange this discussion coming up. My mum died last Sunday. I’m not after sympathy, but I know people care. It was a blessing for her as she was very poorly and it was a huge relief to see her suffering end. About nine years ago I answered my mum back for the first time in my life. She would not recognise my first grandchild as family because she was fostered and in her words not mine “ she isn’t blood”. This hurt very much, this beautiful little girl was my first grandchild and I love all my grandchildren equally. I kept my distance for a while but got abusive phone calls from my brother and nearly had to take out a restraining order. My mum changed her will, and I had no say over her health as she got older and deteriorated. She was put in a nursing home, which was very comfortable but she kept asking me what had happened to all her belongings. I didn’t know. I visited her and we spoke and I love her. My psychologist said I would never get an apology for the hurt she caused me but I forgave her. Sorry for the ramble but thank you for letting me write.

There was a time in professional sports when the umpire/referee made a decision, it was accepted as final without question. Errors were made, but were acknowledged as part of the game. Today, almost every decision is referred to an authority away from the playing field. This not only interrupts the play of the game but calls into question the integrity of the field official.

I think it is needed as some are hard to see and it makes the decision easyer to make and is a more fair way

Coming from a very large family, it becomes a big question when Christmas rolls around as to who to invite for Christmas dinner. I usually decide on it based on who gets along with whom. Then I don't hear the end of it when I don't invite certain members. I decided not to put on the Christmas dinner for the past two years; it didn't feel like Christmas without family around on Christmas day. Do you experience any of this? What would you do?
P F
My family is large as well. What we do is meet at the local park, lake or nearby beach. Everyone that wants to come brings a main and a dessert to share at a communal table. The children are catered for by water activities and a playground. Adults mingle with whomever they want. At the end (most of it is paper plates\plastic cups) cleaning up takes seconds. The burden of catering is not left to a single person. And our rule is no presents. Having fun, bringing food, participating in activities...that's the present.

Recently our cat was mauled by a savage dog even though it was on a leash outside our house. Its owners had no control. I have never witnessed such torture and was devastated, `The cat was so injured, it has to be out down. We had no success on insisting that the dog should be put down to prevent other incidents. Next time it might be a child. Surely, there should be more restrictions on such animals, \What do you think?
PeacefulKaz
Yes, I agree, dogs with those killer tendencies towards cats often go onto to attack people, have seen this many times when working with council dog pound. Often they can not be rehabilitated and have to be euthanised, sad for all concerned. More restrictions, visits are needed for dogs such as these and this savage dog that mauled your cat on a lead is a public safety issue. More than often it is the owner at the cause of the problem with encouraging aggression and non socialisation of dog at fault. There are alot of people involved in dog fighting now and these people couldn't be trusted to look after there dogs and need these animals taken off them

For me, it is completely normal for someone to choose to stay single forever. People have different life goals, values, and preferences, and for some, being single may provide the freedom and independence they desire. What would you say? Is it normal to want to be single for the rest of your life?
P F
I am single and have been all my life. I enjoy it. It's given me time for self growth. Most of my friends got married within 2 years of leaving high school and took any low paying job they could to pay the bills. I became a teacher and travelled all over the country I live in. I play several instruments, write songs and have a band that we preform at local events. I own my own house, 2 investment properties, a government and a private super, shares and a good size chunk of cash in the bank. Being single DOESN'T mean being lonely. I have great friends and have had relationships along the way. The freedom I have to do anything I want whenever I like is amazing. I don't need to ask anyone's permission to do anything I feel like doing at the drop of a hat, and money is never a problem. When I look at my friends and how deeply they are in debt to the almighty credit card I thank God I'm single. And as far as never having children...well I'm a teacher that is surrounded by children and I have 6 nephews that think I'm the greatest uncle ever due to the gifts and adventures we have had in the past. And still having adventures today with their children. Life is good.

I feel that if done safely there should be no issue but a mandatory licence and helmets would be needed along with an age requirement to make it safe

Hi David thanks for this discussion topic. Hospital emergency departments and aquired brain injury wards are testament to people either not using them safely and responsibly, or being injured through no fault of their own.

Sometimes people wonder whether it is always best to tell the truth, or if small white lies are acceptable in certain situations. One of the things I miss most about school days is the sense of routine and shared experiences. Every morning started with familiar faces, hurried greetings, and the rush to beat the bell. The cost of living in Australia is among the highest in the world, mainly because of expensive housing, services, and everyday essentials. Housing is the biggest factor, with rents and property prices in cities like Sydney and Melbourne ranking among the most costly globally, often reaching $600 $750 or more per week. The biggest reason why getting back together with an ex doesn't work is if your relationship patterns don't change. We are elderly and ill, and need to pay people to work for us. It seems no one wants to work anymore. We pay cash money. We often talk about finding ourselves, being true to ourselves, or losing ourselves in something greater. But what if the "self" isn t something we discover or protect what if it s something we invent? We are born with a self because we have a personality right from birth. That self, like other beings, evolves and develops over time through various experiences as well as our own genetic predispositions. Just as the self can expand over time, it can also deteriorate just like organic and non-organic matter. Does this mean that the self is just an illusion? Absolutely not. If a piece of metal melted due to extreme heat, would you then say that the metal never existed? Of course not. We know that the same matter can move from solid to liquid to gas or any combination of such changes. The self should be considered in the same way as it shifts from one form to another to yet another.

I am the wife, daughter-in-law, niece and mother of a trucker and I can say it isn t the same as it once was. Maybe it is just me, but it used to be an art form. Took a special breed to be a trucker. Drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes and jamming gears. Now a days with all the automatics out there, seems like everyone thinks they can be a trucker. It is a privilege to hold that title, not a right. More people need to prove they deserve the title. They deserve the respect....

Eggs are fast becoming scarce I see signs in my supermarket saying it is due to Avian Flu but the shelves are fully stocked with fresh cakes from Euronatural Commercial Bakery every size and flavour imaginable every day apparently the egg shortages are not affecting the big companies, just us regular folk. Fresh Chicken cuts are plentiful . Golden Cockerel slaughterhouse is still running around the clock I wonder What s next on the scare mongering calendar?
Stacy 1677640
Is there really a shortage or is it just a scheme to hike prices? There are plenty of farmers around area i live that have plenty of eggs & selling much cheaper than in store.

Following the death of the late Pope Francis and after watching Conclave, I thought to myself what would a woman offer as a Pope? I am not Catholic but do know that they do not ordain women as priests. Maybe in the future this will happen. There was a Pope in the 13th century named Pope Joan, although this is a matter of dispute. I feel that perhaps a woman would have more empathy, although men do have this as well. Just putting it out there.
Dang Ling-bits.
God gave women small feet so that they can stand close to the sink, the stove and the washing machine. They should stay there.

I have just been disassembling some old macs...2 gig hard drives...256 megs of RAM that sort of thing running Disc doubler and RAM doubler...and with regular maintenance and their compact and fast operating systems it was effortless to produce magazines and books, create fantastic artwork, music, most if not all of the things that anyone would ever usually need a modern computer to do. So why do we need to keep on doubling computer power? Most people do very little...
Big H
I hav no idea of all this stupid jargon that Computer Companies and IT people have invented just to keep their jobs . It is also the best way to get rid of the old folk like me. I am happy when the internet goes down as I still know how to add 1 and 1 together and how much change I get if I use cash not card at a supermarket. The government doesnt want the old people around as they know too much from the "olden days" so put them in the aged homes where they can stagnate with no need for computers. Fortunately I am not interested in all this cloak and dagger age so long as I can open my Amazon Kindle Account and my Rewardia Account and certain easy apps I dont give a hoot for Quantum computing. I had to look it up to find out what is was and the definition is equally as ridiculous as everything to do with programming. 'Utilizes quantum mechanical phenomena like superposition and entanglement to perform computations' I never swear but "What the f....are they talking about".

Responsible drinking means more than just limiting yourself to a certain number of drinks. It also means not getting drunk and not letting alcohol control your life or your relationships. Is there such a thing as responsible drinking?
Disie
Yes. I'm a recovering alcoholic, 11 years sober. My daughter sets rules for herself: Don't drink when you're down. Don't drink alone. I'm so damn proud of her

We've all been on a summer roadie and experienced first-hand the state of our roads. If you've ever been stuck in a summer traffic jam, had near-misses on dangerous turns or feared for your life on clifftops (while the car behind you is tail-gating!) - you may have an opinion on this one. Tell us what main road or highway you think needs some serious attention across the country, and why!

NEVER! If I'm not mistaken, I understand it's snake 'venom', and things can go horribly wrong! Embrace your wrinkles and grey hair (?) and enjoy your life. It's too short right now to worry about such things! ;-D

Why is it when you are a people pleaser, so many people love to be around you. But once you start doing something for yourself, working on your mental health, achieving your goals, starting a business etc none wants to do anything with you even talk to you. Concerns have been raised about Nelson Hospital, with complaints of lack of staffing and excessive wait times. Do you have confidence in your local emergency department?
Raymond K 449636
Not really, so as when I had big problems recently, and end up going to the Royal Perth hospital, where after a period of waiting, and after being admitted to the Emergency Ward, in no time was admitted to a ward for treatment, will be using this Hospital as they have a whole range of Medical Professionals to attend to my problems

If you had the opportunity to talk to a loved one who has passed on already, what question would you want to ask them if you would?
blunder boy
I do not know if you believe in mediums or not but I talk with my family through her, as my wife and brother do every 6 months or so, this is a fun and spiritual hour and a half sometimes two, my brother passed almost a year plus ago and at our local, he has his pic on the honors shelf, we buy him a Bundy shot every time we are there so he can have a drink with us, on our last visit with Liz [our medium] who asked that we buy him a scotch instead of the Bundy he wants to drink what your drinking, How she knew that I have no idea that was something that my brother and I do, another time I had bought some gorilla glue for a bottle cutting project, but I could not find it, we were talking about something else and Liz says before I forget you gorilla glue is in the black and red jar on your table so don't buy any more its expensive your mum says, when I got home there it was, I have so many stories like that, I believe your family stays with you, i constantly talk with them ,they may be gone but they have never left,i you honestly talk with them you will be surprised what you hear

Do you feel that self-protection courses would be beneficial for women at no cost, paid for by the Government to encourage more women to protect themselves against harm?
Raelz
I got my black belt in TKD, with Palado TaeKwonDo Academy in a small town, it took me 15yrs (as I had two kids during that time so a few breaks), but I kept returning (with my kids who are also Blue belts atm. I paid for it myself. I dealt with the petrol, the time, whilst working, and eventually (as the boys got older); the whinging!! IT WAS ALL WORTH IT AND STILL IS!
Pay for it yourself, it teaches you/your kids self-confidence, patience, perseverance/ persistence! Govt should do their job; Roads, Rates, schools etc.

Who doesn't look forward to a vacation? It's a time to explore, relax, unwind and enjoy. However, sometimes things don't go so well. From lost luggage, a hotel that claimed to be luxurious but was seedy, overcrowded everywhere, noisy, rude people, awful food, etc, can make our vacation not so nice. What was your worst vacation?
Secret Squirrel
I went to Bright,Victoria. A small village town half way up Lake Mountain. The most picturesque little town all year round back then.My ex husband and I were travelling by car ,6 hour drive. I was very pregnant with our first child. 40 degree heat in summer. We had a minor accident with the car in the first 15mins,no apparent damage,so continued. We should have turned back then. The car broke down more times than I can count. Luckily we had insurance that offered roadside assistance. By the time we arrived we had spent 12hours on the road in the heat and had the car towed the last 80kms. All accommodation was already paid for,but left us with very little money and bad sunburn. Still wasn't horrible,it's was truly beautiful. We ate ice-cream,walked around town, waded though the Oven's river( which is melted snow and freezing any time of year). We had some food we brought with us. Funny that everything we planned went wrong, but just being there was refreshing. Young love..we didn't care, had nothing,no money,no car. It didn't matter.

Yes fair call I'm probably an old fart...but in surveys there is so much that I never use at all EVER a whole array that everyone seems to be paying for....music....news information...food...sometimes I feel like I'm living on another planet...these guys give me 12 options in a survey and I can only click on three...any one else have this?
Neo
Sure, Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
I am finding it increasingly difficult to find who I am on surveys with all the new genders and sexualities and then you have to repeat all of this on the next page because "sex assigned from birth" is one question and "sex you see yourself as". How about just ask if you are male or female or other because if you TRULY believe you are one of these, then why does it matter what sex you were assigned at birth? And, just for simplicity, for sexuality, just have "gay or straight or other" and they can fill in what their "other" is instead of giving all survey takers a laundry list of possibilities to plough through until we find what we identify with? Honestly, it takes longer to read these prequalification lists these days than is reasonable.
Next they will be asking us if we consider ourselves human, alien or a furry and then THIS will have its own laundry list of ridiculous possibilities.
Oh, I forgot about the alien lizard species since just saying "I am alien" may not be good enough for some people. What if I identify as a Klingon or other race from Star Trek? The possibilities for making this question a kilometre long are endless!

So many people these days are choosing either to have private funeral services, a memorial service at a later date, or no service at all. I have opted for no service I have asked my family to when they feel s right all go out for dinner together (something we enjoy doing now) and order desserts (but no coconut lol) my family get it, I don't need any fuss, those who love me are in contact with me now. What are your thoughts?
Grommie
Like most of you I arrived into the world with very little fuss, and I intend to leave the world the same way. Why put all your friends and relatives through the expense of the funeral, and in many cases the high travelling cost? Funerals are for the living, not the dead. The corny line about "paying your respects" is Undertaker-speak for making indecent money from your estate for them. Watch out for the undertaker whose other half runs a florist shop and their son is in the catering business.
thanks lynda e for your worthwhile forum board.

Which products or services do you consider a waste of time or money, and why? My biggest pet peeves are ad blockers, as ads always seem to stay ahead of ad-blocking technology. I see no point in paying for them. I also find many subscription services unnecessary especially those designed to help you manage your other subscriptions. What's next? A subscription service to monitor your subscription manager? Sometimes, I feel like companies believe that if they create something,...

Supermarket paper bags !!😡 l hate paying 25c for just one of them and then they break by the handles or spilt on the edges ..especially as the staff are usually useless at packing them... Overpack or careless .lt's a business You should be giving us free bags to take our product home in after you've made a nice profit from us ( massive profits compared to other stores who give you a free bag!!); .. and you'll also get free advertising as we walk down the street with your logo on the bags eh?
Then any surviving bags just collect in my cupboard expecting to be bought to the shop again one day ..mm never going to happen. Too bulky ,,and annoying and will not be in a good enough state by the time they get walked home again. So it's keep any nice plastic ones I get from other businesses ( yeahhh still available!) and try my hardest to remember to take a couple in my bag always !

While there's no strict timeline, many recommend waiting at least 6 months to a year of dating before cohabitating. This allows time to understand each other's habits, values, and compatibility. What would you say? How early is too early to move in together?

Seriously I am finding some of these discussions so boring. Use your common sense and make your own decisions.

I've noticed that the lonely heart/chat line/dating service adverts have moved from using highly unlikely pictures of women who could (and probably do) work as models...and into purely digital models....are these just bait...or are they trying to set you up with digital girlfriends?....how weird are these sorts of services going to get?...what do you think?
LA
Oh, it's only going to get weirder. Today, it's digital models; tomorrow, it'll be AI girlfriends who text you good morning and remind you to drink water. By next year, they'll come with a virtual mother-in-law who sends passive-aggressive notifications about your life choices.
And let's be real—if the bots ever get self-awareness, they'll start ghosting people just like humans do. "Sorry, Dave, I just don't feel a connection. Also, my algorithm says you're 87% likely to leave dishes in the sink, and I deserve better."

Do you have any handy hints & time/money saving tips for your household that have passed down through the generations? One of my favourites is baking soda to remover tea/coffee stains from cups. If you keep your eggs in the carton in the fridge and turn them over every week, they won't go off. While they sit a bubble forms in the top of the egg and this is when they go bad. In olden days the ships would be at sea for months and the eggs didn't go bad. The movement of the ship stopped the eggs going off.

The Government has a huge tax on fuel. It has a huge tax on Cigarettes. If they used the money raised from fuel tax, we would have the best roads in the world. A call came in and said a bench warrant had been issued for my husband's arrest and gave the name of an officer at the local police dept. I called them on my phone, they said they had an officer by that name, but he was assigned as a school crossing guard. My husband kept them on the phone and drove to the police dept. He handed the phone to an officer, and the scammer hung up. I don't think he has called again.

It's never too late to start, but you should focus on finding your purpose and life task that is relevant to a certain job. Perhaps you're really good with numbers and need to be an Accountant or Financial advisor. Or you have a lot of empathy and love helping people, and perhaps should become a Therapist. What would your advice? Is it OK to start life at 40?

No, I restarted life at age 35 and now I am 75 years young and have been forced in 2008 at age 59 into an early retirement. I do online surveys to augment my stipends of SS and pension each month (Less than $1700 of which rent is $700).

What are your plans for 2025? I try not to make resolutions as they never stick... 2025 for us is going to be all about getting back to basics, decluttering and minimising how much "stuff" we have around us and what comes into the house ... I suppose I got a bit of a head start on everybody else. Earlier this month I moved interstate back to sunny Victoria( well sometimes it is). I left a d.v relationship with basically my clothes and my youngest son and his things to be with family. So decluttering DONE. Now just focusing on my health mental and physical as well as slowly saving to replace all I left behind. Pretty proud of myself at this point as I thought previously the only way I would get out was in a wooden box. I look forward to a better year than many more previous ones.i know for sure it can't possibly be worse. For the first time in quite I while I love my life. I'm kinda planning on roast chicken with roast potatoes and veggies, then salads galore (ie rice, tabbouli, pasta, garden, Asian slaw, coleslaw), bread slices for DYI...

The subject of shells was raised on this site, with some people feeling all shells should be left at the beach. I returned from overseas once and had to go through immigration and customs in Darwin, where the customs officers walked along the line of passengers with a large plastic bin asking for shells and coral. The Bank of Mum and Dad is now utilised by 2 in 5 first home buyers in Australia, making it one of the largest lenders with an annual lending amount of around $92 billion and an average loan of approximately $92,000 per transaction. What does it mean to the rest of us? Is the bank of Mum and Dad creating a new class system?
Cat Claw
Not really. Bank of Mum and Dad has always existed. I think the expectation is what has changed. I know my generation would only ask our parents for a loan if we were really in dire straits...and then pay it back. Now, I think there's generations of children who expect their parents to help and actually gift them the money.

A lot of people these days are suffering from bad mental health, and people don't even realise. People with bad mental health will usually isolate themselves from others, and just want to be alone, even though what they need is to talk to someone. We should check that everyone is ok, because trust me, having bad mental health is like living a nightmare. What is your opinion on this topic?
Katzeye
I have a niece that has mental issues which are quite severe to the stage where she has attempted to take her life multiple times but luckily failed however she has also very much mutilated herself at the same time. She is now 21 and still has major relapses of self mutilation. Many of our family have tried to reach out to her over the years including myself and she has even been in respite care institutions. It is really sad because she is a lovely young lady with so much potential to make something of herself but over here in NZ the mental health system has failed her as well as many others and that is only half the problem. Many so called professionals said there is nothing wrong with her and it is all to do with attention seeking but this was recently proven wrong as she has now been diagnosed with border line personality disorder which is one of the most commonly misdiagonsed mental health conditions out there.

My husband and I have disagreed, he thinks the lint is actually growing all the time, I am not sure how it could be growing Does anyone else have to fight lint every day all day long in the home where they live. Just using a vacuum every day is not enough. What does others suggest about this??

While I don't have a lint problem at home, I used to work at a university that did have a real problem. The lint bunnies grew so large that they hissed at the students passing by. I also heard that a student was actually attacked by one, but there is no proof.

For me, they shape our opinions, attitudes, and beliefs about the world around us. The media can also influence how we perceive ourselves and others by providing information that reinforces certain stereotypes or exaggerated images of people from different backgrounds. What are your thoughts? Does news affect our daily lives?
DrMcFlip
Well, here in the USA our news revolves around the election later this year in which our choices seem to be an invalid, a felon, and a guy who says a worm ate part of his brain, so yes, this is affecting me and not in a good way. You guys have room for me down under ?

i spent 7 years in the infantry in the '60s, where i learned that fighting for country was the farthest thing from the truth, we were fighting for the folks that built planes, tanks, guns, uniforms, ammo etc, to give them exorbitant profits, Viet Nam, where we learned how to profit from war at the expense of our young folks, not all, just the ones their daddy couldn't pay his way out of it

Australian parents are asking the government to legislate a law banning people under the age of 16 from having an account on social media. How you could police that, I have no idea. Many admit it would enable them to stop their children using social media by blaming someone else. What on earth is wrong with these people? Are they afraid of their children? It would seem so. My Mum & Grandma were very superstitious & some of those superstitions rubbed off on me! I will not walk under ladders as it is unlucky. Grandma would never have peacock feathers in her house - they were unlucky. If I see a black cat, to me that is a lucky omen. If my mum dropped a utensil, then we were going to get visitors! If she spilt salt, she would throw some over her left shoulder so she wouldn't have an argument. I love finding a four leaf clover, that is so lucky....

Superstitious is the devil's idea to cloud you mind and not make the right decision. When things happen, it happens for a reason. Black cat crossed the road to go home, or, to find food, or to find a mate. One of my best friends told me not to look in the mirror at night, because you see bad things. Thats a load of hogwash

As a semi-retired tradie and I have always eaten lunch while I work without stopping due to very unreasonable deadlines. It is 1% of the world's filthy rich billionaires who are controlling everything and they want you to ALL be poor while they grow richer and control you more.
Many millionaires have started out at the bottom, worked hard, taken chances and had a measure of good luck to get where they are.

I know many of you cannot stand the commercialism of VD, but that aside, is it really that bad? I am a big romantic, and so is my man..... I always get flowers sent to me at work, & I feel so honoured that he loves and cares for my feelings on this special romantic day, where he wants to show the world he loves me & that I'm precious to him. Yes, I do feel for those that are single. But real love is very special & I think we should be able to have it celebrated? ...

Yes I have been told you can get VD from being romantic. But I never thought you felt special about it.

How does everyone feel that TikTok might be banned? The app that got most of threw Covid-19 might be gone for ever because the government is too scared of TikTok's impact on people.
Raelz
"The app that got most of US THOUGH Covid-19" ?
Perhaps more reading and less TikTok might improve your grammar and spelling ;)
We also played board games and I do not want the Chinese Govt. spying on me, thank you very much!
Ban it, and Facebook and Twitter while you are at it!

I'm sure there are plenty of wise words of wisdom out there - if you're over 65 please offer them. Here's some to start the ball rolling: You don't need anger management. You need people to stop pissing you off. Your people skills are just fine. It's your tolerance for idiots that needs work. "On time" is, when you get there. Even duct tape can't fix stupid but it sure does muffle the sound. It would be wonderful if we could put ourselves in the...

We have the experience,, lots of knowledge and valid opinions and many of us lots of time to visit Rewardia. Problem is that those who engage Rewardia to run the surveys for them seem to have forgotten those simple facts. I have lost count of the number of times I have been Screened Out as soon as I enter my AGE! Age Discrimination is a live and flourishing.

What can anyone do? Be Kind Show respect Be happy with what you already have If Christian remember the manger Remember some people are wealthy and some are poor Be the solution not the problem Remember all humans struggle with life events Do not tolerate conflict Do not encourage war Stop fighting Build your family Everyone matters There must be a higher power than us Pray to what you believe in

There will never be World Peace for a number of reasons.
Amongst them are Greed and Religion
World Powers such as the USA, China, Russia, the UK, France, Italy, Iran, North Korea, Australia and others have a huge part of their Economies based on the manufacture of Weapons, Warships, Bombers, Drones, Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, Tanks, Nuclear Submarines, the list is almost endless. These countries manufacture all of this and then they want to sell it and they don't give a damn who they sell it to or where it ends up. The Politicians in most countries want, no, they NEED, on-going wars and for all their hand-wringing, all their dishonest words they never want the killing to end.
Have a look at Russia's invasion of little Ukraine. If Putin wanted to he could have walked in & taken Ukraine in a couple of days. he has more Military that Ukraine has population, he has massive amounts of Weapons etc. and is reportedly also being supplied by North Korea and possibly China. Both countries deny this. They, like the USA, UK, Australia, etc., will lie as and when it suitsd the politicians in those countries.
Then have a look at the Israel-Hamas war. The USA is supplying Israel with almost all it's Weapons, Bombers, Drones and Iran is supplying Hamas with drones, rockets and other weaponry.
Down the millenia wars have been deliberately created by Religious leaders and they continue to do so, all, of course claim that God, Jahweh, Allah or whatever other names they call this invisible, mythical deity, is on their side.

In our current Western societies we are multicultural, all inclusive and embrace all races and religions, no matter what your religion, you are allowed to practice it somewhere, all together, with those who believe the same things. When we hit Christmas, we have a problem - everyone seems to be expected to celebrate it and a lot of people have celebrations of their own at this time. It was a holiday before we had Christ ... or mass ... how about "Happy...

Is it good to have a retirement age after which one can stop working? This has both good and bad side. If there is a fixed age for retirement, the younger group can join the workforce and possible contribute better in most cases. However, the experienced person can also contribute special activities which require a lot of experience. For example: when we go to a doctor, particularly for critical illness, we always look for an experienced doctor. Further, retirement...

In reality, you can retire at any age if you have the financial means to do so. What you are talking about is retirement age to either access superannuation or a government pension. I hate how the age has increased due to what the government perceives as "aging population". The old system of "voluntary retirement at 55" is much better than "work until you die" mentality which prevails today. (Obviously, voluntary retirement at 55 was to access superannuation and NOT welfare and you can no longer do this as the minimum retirement age is 10-20 years higher for most people currently working and this is awful).

Do you think there'll be an end to seniors receiving government pensions by the year 2073 or in 50-yrs? It's been a century's long stable way of living while enabling seniors to enjoy their later years. And do you think it's a good idea to put off retirement until after the age of 70 instead f taking an earlier retirement? Where I live, a senior can be qualified as a person 55+ albeit even though they are still working & haven't yet retired from the work force.

I think that people who have worked all their life should be able to have some retirement life before they become too frail. Retirement age should be 65 yrs and if people want to work longer they can and have tax benefits. Everyone has a different lifestyle and health. Some people already end up unable to work at 65 due to ill health, just look at the aging population that end up in Nursing Homes who are in their early 70s. Let there be a small time in life to enjoy some retirement

I believe TV was much better to watch in the olden days, as it used to have heaps of children & family programmes compared to these days. I used to love the older shows more than now, remember any animal shows like Skippy, Rin-Tin-Tin, Lassie, Flipper or such good movies like Shirly Temple, TV shows like Little House on the Prairie, The Brady Bunch, Lost in Space etc. These were the best time growing up & you never forget them. What is there on...

I agree with you completely, TV was better in my childhood. There was no bad language, no sex and no bloody murders. We lived in a blissful world where we were allowed to have a childhood. Right was right and wrong was wrong and there was no grey area, Superman would always save the day. Around the 70's the so called educators graduated from uni and decided for us that children should not grow up thinking everything will work out for the best and that they should not be taught about God but sex instead. Noddy and Big ears were perverts and we can't have a golly wog. Children should know that you die, can be murdered and all sorts of horrible things can happen to you so stranger danger dialled up full speed. No more fairy tales or dreaming of meeting a prince. I couldn't believe a mother told her son that Prince Charming was molesting Snow White. How sad is that. Children are now confronted with the horrible facts of life, and it's cruel in my opinion. They are afraid of climate change, endangered species and being buried alive underneath piles of rubbish. They get political correctness, gender issues and now having to apologise to indigenous people for stealing their land. Is it any wonder young people feel that they have no hope, they need drugs, are depressed and have high rates of suicide. On the other hand, how are we coping, we who grew up with Superman and fairy tales? Very well thank you.

Recently separated from my husband almost 2 months now. We ve been married for almost 15yrs. I d like to discuss or hear some opinions in your case. We separated because he drank to much and he didn t like me going to the gym. He s still coming around and sometimes gives me money for bills. Should I give up completely or move on? Here s the catch . I already got involved with the neighbor. Fix my marriage or move on? Please be nice. I m totally obviously confused at this...

You’ve already moved on if you’re rooting the neighbour Morenita !!!
You’re just feeling a bit guilty because you are accepting money from the ex.
No one knows all the details of what has really gone on so only you can decide the right course of action to take.
