An icon for Australian stargazers like me is CSIRO Parkes Observatory which started operating in 1961, and is still one of world's leading radio telescopes six decades on. I have been there several times and seeing it for the first time just after it started operating in 1961 made me a stargazer.

As a muppet fan and collector, it would be Kermit, for sure. My son (now 33) carried his Kermie everywhere with us when he was little. I still have it here to keep good for him as he thinks his 3 boys would wreck it. Just recently my great nephew has taken a liking to it and I scored one for him in the op shop just yesterday! Can't wait to give it to him.
