| Juicy Italian meatballs with savory tomato sauce/gravy | ||
This is a satisfying recipe which bursts with herbs and garlic flavor. This dish is high in protein and full of flavor. As my husband said, this dish is comfort food made clean and wholesome. Also, this recipe is freezer friendly and can be made ahead of time too! Ingredients: 500g beef mince 500g sausage meat 2 large onion ( finely chopped) 1 Tbsp crushed garlic 2 Tbsp tomato sauce 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 2 tsp Italian seasonings 1 tsp chili powder (optional) 1 egg 1 Tbsp flour 1 cup breadcrumbs Salt and pepper to taste Dash of oil Tomato gravy 1 can of chopped tomatoes (for the sauce) 25g butter 1 Tbsp flour 1 large onion (finely chopped)(optional) Method: 1) Get a big bowl, thoroughly mix all the ingredients together. But take care not to over mix. 2) Use a large spoon to scoop up the mixture and roll them into balls. Place them on a plate. 3) Heat up oil in a large pan and brown meatballs on both sides. 4) For the meatball sauce/gravy, melt some butter, add flour. Mix well. Dump a can of chopped tomatoes into a saucepan, fried chopped onion. Add salt and pepper. Bring them to boil. Generously spoon the sauce over the meatballs. 5) I serve it with roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables. | ||
