Bungeoppang (Korean dish)

This is a very easy dish to prepare. Once you have mastered it, your children or grandchildren will love making them.
It is a popular Korean street food that is normally filled with sweet ingredients such as jam, Nutella, custard or sweet beans. I prefer to open a can of any type of fish and mix it with lightly fried chopped onions to use as a filling. Ham and cheese can also be used.
These are great as a party snack and a talking point.
You will need to purchase a Bungeoppang maker first up. They are available online. They are similar to a jaffle iron.
My 14 year old daughter makes these and sells them at her school for 5,000 rupiah for 2. (that is about 40 cents AUD)
PASTRY
1 cup plain flour,
2 tsp baking powder,
175 ml milk,
pinch salt,
half teaspoon of sugar,
1 tbs melted butter.
Mix these ingredients. Pre-heat mold and pour some into the mold. Add filling. Cover with more of the pastry mix. Close mold.
Turn over and place on flame or hot plate for around 2 minutes.
Turn over and cook for a further 2 minutes. Open and eat.
Maybe grab a beer as well.
HINT, pour pastry mix into a plastic bottle, this will make it easier to use and cuts down on wasted pastry.
