Do you like Shakespeare or are you one of those people who cringe when they hear the name?
In high school we studied one play in depth every year. When the teacher said we would be starting Shakespeare the next week, I would be quietly cheering while everyone else around me groaned.
It was in high school when I started reading Shakespeare just for fun and my mother got me the complete works for Christmas. (which I still have to this day).
If there is one thing that deters people from Shakespeare I think it is the language.
My husband, who was not a fan but knowing that I was, surprised me one day by taking me to Shakespeare in the park on Mount Royal in Montreal. It was the comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream". By the end of it he was laughing as much as I was. He said that after the first 15 minutes of getting used to the language it was fine.
I think it just takes having an open mind and giving it a chance.
