I was just realizing today (and maybe a lot of you already realized) that when taxable items go up in price, the govt taxes are also increased. That bottle of shampoo that was 10 dollars with 1.13 added in tax is now 15 dollars and 1.95 in taxes. I only realized this because I heard a tv commentator talk about how much extra revenue the govt is collecting now due to the higher price of fuel at the pumps. I keep reading how people are begging the govt to stop grocery stores from gouging us, maybe the govt should stop getting an increase in tax revenue just because taxable grocery store items have increased in price. Or maybe remove the taxes on all items in a grocery store.
