Is it ever okay to tell a lie?
Do you ever feel that you need to tell a lie to protect another person's feelings? I always pay genuine compliments to people, which means that if there is something that I do not like, unless it affects me negatively, I remain silent. However, the dilemma comes when someone seeks approval and asks a question such as, 'Do you like my new hairstyle?' If I like it, I tell them exactly why I like it and provide them with the affirmation that they seek - but what happens if I do not like it? I tend to say something indirect, such as "Yes, it certainly is a change" or "I can see why you made the change". Should one just say, "Yeah, I LOVE it", when that is not how one truly feels? When is it appropiate and/or inappropiate to tell a lie?
