Discussion of the Day
Small Town Communities
Joy L 6876728-Sep-25
We moved to our small town 14 years ago. We were shocked at how many things in this town are run on volunteers. The CFA (fire brigade), SES (emergency service), They are in most Australian towns, so no surprise there. But the local hall has a volunteer committee who look after it, cleaning renting it out etc. The local show is run by volunteers. We also have 2 CWA branches (Country Women's Association) a Rotary Club, a Masonic Club, Cricket club football club, golf club, guides, 3 churches, a historical society. I don't think I have missed anyone. This is all run by a town that only has 1500 people in it.

How does your town stack up? Is this an anomaly or normal in small towns? Yes, we have joined a lot of these as well.
