Thousands of bright teachers are leaving the school system rapidly.
Many highly intelligent students are also simply not choosing teaching as a career. Remuneration and rewards are much better elsewhere. There are many reasons, but I believe the growing violence in the schools is not being addressed adequately. What we are left with is an industry with only mediocre teachers remaining. Is that good enough for your kids? Are there any other ways we can keep our brighter teachers in the system?
