I was looking for a phone number to locate a store. I first tried the Yellow Pages, but it said the number was disconnected. So I went online to find the number on my computer, and instead I was connected to an AI service.
It asked me to pay $1, either through my credit card or BPAY, before it would give me the number. The $1 was supposedly refundable, but I refused, as you always hear warnings about giving out bank details online.
Even if it is refundable, how long would it take for such a small amount to be returned to my account? I also thought this was supposed to be a free service.
Could this be a scam? What do you think?
