Dealing with the beginnings of Dementia in a parent
Dad just turned 91! We lost Mum (@ 86 yo), in 2024. I've been living in the family house since end of 2023. Was reaaaalllllllyyyyy tough at first, but is a little easier now - both more use to one another, (Dad and I). But, gotta tell ya, still has it's um 'moments'. Dad seems to be relying on me more and more now. He is getting better at being appreciative, not that I'm looking for kudos, or a medal. But things like attention span, understanding instructions/tasks, now are starting to be a little bit much for him. He appears to be a little scared of what's coming, next. I realise it is not going to get better, that today is the best he can expect, kind of, but has/is anyone else going through or has been through, similar? How did you handle the changes for the best for the person/s and yourself?
