About the cost of living in our recent time
Daniel 170490322-Aug-25
The cost of living in Australia is among the highest in the world, mainly because of expensive housing, services, and everyday essentials. Housing is the biggest factor, with rents and property prices in cities like Sydney and Melbourne ranking among the most costly globally, often reaching $600 $750 or more per week. Utilities such as electricity, gas, internet, and phone bills also add significantly to household expenses. Groceries are expensive too, with a family s weekly shopping often costing between $250 and $350, and dining out is costly because high wages push up restaurant and cafe prices, with meals typically ranging from $20 to $50. Transport contributes further, as public transport fares can be $5 $10 per trip, and car ownership brings high fuel, registration, insurance, and toll costs.
