What are your thoughts on parents who bring their children to day care while sick? My son has been sick for over a week because of this, and I'm told it's good for him... but it's been so stressful, and I would never bring him around others while he's sick
Cute
I know that it is hard for single mothers to stay home to look after their sick children but it is not fair to other children who are open to catching the sickness. I don't know the answer!

So I just witnessed my neighbour across the road reverse (slowly) down his drive. And a cyclist was racing down the footpath. They collided with each other. Everyone is okay and was civil. (Bike completely damaged) But what do you think about cyclists on the footpath? I believe they should stick to the road for many reasons
Sammi
I'm in my 70's and when l rode my bike in my youth we were not allowed to ride on the foot path. It was against the law. So why are they ride on foot paths now. They are called FOOT PATHS.

We mistakenly look for confidence in the clothes that we wear or the car that we drive. We seek to recover from loss, loneliness, or heartache by purchasing unnecessary items. Furthermore, we seek fulfilment in material things. And we try to impress other people with the things that we own rather than the people that we are. What are your thoughts? Why do we buy stuff we don't need?

I am female and have never desired to be other than the way God created me. I was born from a Union of Two People, One Male and the Other Female and yet many have called me feminine man or “shemale” a coin word I hate and know that that are the feminine men and “shemales”. Now to your question. I am 68 years old and believe me I do not age but slowly will age for aging comes to all who walk and talk and live a life filled with love and caring and always ready to help others in need. My home is far away and I must return or many will suffer the fate of extinction and many more will cease to become flesh and live life on this plane. Earth must be cleansed and many must not live for all desire to have things they really have not much use for and all desire to live long lives and many will not live long merely 20-50 years and even maybe 75 years more on this planet. Man seek clothes, designer pants, designer dresses and are men and wear panties and wear brasseries and wear skirts with slits from waist to ankles and wear makeup to hide beards that come through at night when asleep and even when not asleep and even during the daylight hours. What fallacy that man have acquired to have others like me born female with female organs and female genitalia and female chest and no hormones ever taken by me. The world believe I am a pervert because I have chosen not to paint my face and not to wear perfume that masks body odor and not to speak as if I am not college educated or older than the very state that I live in which is Pennsylvania which is only 247 years old and even my best friend from High School say and has said she is younger than I and according to the Bible and I quote the passage, “let all who lie and say they are young and are old will not live and will die a quick and ugly death” for GOD Hates the liar and GOD Hates the thief and GOD Hates the man who wears dresses and wears brassiere and wears frocks to hide his penis and wears makeup and wears underpants with his penis tucked under and stretched and put hard in his backside. Most evil all, and I believe I have angered many but many have angered me and I AM GOD who have dictated these words to my chosen child and her name is Pamela Angela Mason and she loves ME and I AM GOD THE CREATOR WHO CALL all and many have chosen not to hear and still many have chosen not to live and still even many more have chosen not to believe that my chosen one is good or even smart or even have worked and saved and invested and created vaccines and babies that are beautiful and my own as well as their mother and I am Wesley George Henry, Jr. The SON of GOD and my FATHER is the ONE WHO SENT ME into this World many years ago to bring man and all back to HIM and I have tried to do just that and I HAVE FAILED where many are concerned and yet my chosen believe I AM GOOD and SMART and HAVE NOT FAILED WITH her nor her children who are MINE as well and so WE LEAVE Planet Earth for her HOME Far Far Far Far Away and then onto to MY Planet which is exactly 1821604882704010o11227633010o11622301o11402121122123124125126127128129130131132133134135136137138139140141142143144145146147148149150151152153154155156157158159160161162163164165166167168169170171172173174175176177178179180181182183184185186187188189190191192193194195196197198199200201202203204205206207208209210211212213214215216217218219220221222223224225226227228229230-999 and 100,000 light years away and I GO.

I don't know how it's at your area where you're resident but at ours house's price increased 30% over the last 5 years, and it's estimated it's not gonna decline any time soon. Really good for us to sell you our house as we gonna make those 30% + profit, however I can see how people are struggling and buying houses 3bedroom one bath for over $1m, and it's fixer upper!! I don't see that fair at all. I am worried how my son would be ever able to afford living one day....
Andrew C 287196
House prices rise, but so do wages (and everything else). Many of the people who complain they can't afford a house are wasting piles of money on restaurant dining, overseas holidays, continually updating their tech gadgets and cars, TV subscriptions, etc. In ye olde days people actually saved money for a deposit and they made sacrifices to pay off the mortgage (and the mortgage was often for a lot longer than the 30 years people expect to pay it off now). Nothing has really changed, other than the attitude of people.
Having said that, prices are also artificially raised due to the greedy "investors" (local and non-resident) who buy multiple houses to rent out and/or do up and "flip" at a profit. If it had been illegal to own more than the one house you actually live in, house prices would be a lot lower.

Robots and AI are supposed to be the big threat......but we have supermarkets with self check-outs...that are needing more and more staff because they malfunction...and people are just walking out without paying...there is a new job description ... Robot Wranglers ... because robots just seem to wander off...or follow humans or hide under desks even end up in fights...and we now have chatbots that swear at customers and insult the company that they work for...wonderful.....

I'm 60 this year. At work they call me "The Jedi. Not because I'm the oldest, which I am, but because I live in their words "the old ways." I don't own a smart phone, smart TV, 3-D printer or any of the other 100 things that this current generation thinks of as essential. I don't even own a credit card. I cut it up 20+ years ago when using it became too easy. I own my own house, plus an investment property, car, 2 investment Supers and $$$$ just sitting in my bank for an emergency. My co-workers are in their 30's to 40's and are in debt up to their eyeballs, living from payday to payday. They have all the latest gadgets but no real wealth at all. When I tell them this they just laugh at me. I had already owned my 1st home when I was their age. This generation is so hung up on the latest stuff and living "Now" on credit that by the time they retire they will still be renting. So yes, I don't like the future and technology. I am a Jedi/lol. But I'll tell you one thing...I'm happy that I'm the way I am. I'm worried about the current generation and their fixation on technology. All these easy options are keeping them poor and they can't see it cause everyone they know is doing the same thing. And they look at someone like me...laugh, and call me old.

I am so very interested what everyone is going to have for their Christmas food. Can you hit me with some ideas? Last year we fed lots of people, so I made salmon, ham and pulled pork with a few different salads and baked potatoes. This year, I would like to keep it more easy and casual. Also, will have fewer guests.

A few weeks ago I have noticed my main bank account was locked, so I reported this to the bank as I had not been logging into the account on multiple unsuccessful attempts. Also, the time it happened was when I was sleeping. It was then discovered somebody in Australia had been trying to hack into my bank account. I have received a message from my bank twice asking me if I had made a certain purchase on my credit card and both times it wasn't us. Somehow people have been able to get our credit card number but our beaut bank picked it up. The last one was a $4000 lunch. I contacted the restaurant asking them to report the fraud to the police but they said they were letting their bank handle it. I don't understand their attitude because if they didn't see the person ordering the food they must have delivered it, my bank stopped the purchase so why wouldn't they want to get their money back. This is why these crooks keep going, no-one wants the bother of reporting the crime to the police.

I called noise control when one of my neighbours was making too much noise at 10:30pm on a Sunday night. They couldn't come to check the site until about a hr later. When they arrived, they didn't do a great job with investigating the noise. They check the front of the home and the noise was at the back... they left in less than 1 min. We all know when you're getting married, it does cost an arm & a leg. With the high rise of cost of living, people barely make the essentials in today's world. Every wedding has its special moments for any bride to be, but is it necessary for the bride to go over stream & be so much poshy & out of the ordinary flaunting money, without considering her bridal party if they can afford it or not. Usually the matron of honour has to fork out a lot of expenses for her, regardless she...

Do we still really need this sort of extravagance? They can cost many tens of thousands and for what? Aren't these marriages just a carryover from the days of religion? Once it was Until Death do us part. Today it seems to be Until the First argument followed by a very bitter Divorce.
Today, more than ever before, people are having great trouble getting together the money for a deposit on a home. Instead of wasting it all for just one day of pleasure, why not put it towards that house you want to buy?

France will pay bonus to get their clothes and shoes repaired rather than throwing them away. The main idea is to cut down on the 700,000 tonnes of cloths thrown away by French people each year, two third of which end up in their landfills. Do you think, the North America, Australia and Canada will do same things in the near future?

I honestly believe that every city in the world should have a "Garage of Donations" (GOD) where everyone donates anything they don't use or want anymore, and where everyone who needs or wants those things should get them for FREE! Our Garage of Blessings is a recycle place where this is done. They run on donations, once a year sales to raise money, and volunteers who sort and put the items out in the building sorted by what it is. I have used and donated to them for almost 10 years. It saves people money, and saves the landfills. It won't cost anyone anything! RECYCLE, Please! ;-D

Do you think that when being with someone and them being on their phone the whole time is rude? It makes me feel that whoever they are texting is more important than me and what I have to say! Do we need a whole new set of manners to fit in with the technology? Also, when I'm out and people are talking in public, I wonder if they're talking to me, but they're on their phone 24/7. Do they even text in their sleep? I think it's just rude! Anyone agree?
AMUSICALTONY
The whole concept of "good manners " went by the wayside when we lost the ability to punish our kids with a swift kick in the pants. The current generation have no respect at all. Rewarding phone use? That's subjective. If someone is in conversation with me, I expect their full attention. People in public? Well they're not disrespecting me personally, so I overlook that. Although hands-free calls can be annoying. I was visiting someone at a hospital a while back. I got into the lift with rather attractive doctor. As the doors closed she said, "Hi, how are you?" As there was no one else in the lift I said, "Good thanks." She, then stunned me by asking what I was doing on the weekend. I told her it depended on my wife. She then swung her eyes toward me and indicated that she was using a hands-free device. I was so embarrassed.

Electric scooters...who would have imagined this breakthrough 20 years ago!...now obese children who would have had to experience exercise on a bike or scooter, along with obese adults who probably wouldn't be anything at all...can now silently zoom around on the pavements...at speeds of up to 40 km per hour...maiming themselves and helpless pedestrians who get in their way...and they will be able to do this until enough people have killed...serious injury is not...
Jania S
Technology is here to confirm and control us. We are lucky we have sensible people in our area, you want a 'scooter' you need to pay to register, and if you can get insurance you can't ride. So they get you with LAZY apps etc. THIS world has turned to satan and going to hell in a handbasket on warp speed.

Some people fight for equity. Some people fight for equality. Are they fighting for the same thing or different things?
Nel
Equity associated with the net value of an asset one receives after disposing of such asset. Example, equity of your home, is the net value of it after taking out the expenses on that home.
Equality is the equal rights any person enjoys in society. Like Man and Woman or any other sexual orientation have equal rights to have their opinion heard. This is how I understood these two terms.

Do you think at 18 years old in today's society, have it too easy and need a little bit of tough love? It all depends on the circumstances. I virtually do not see this to be a problem, if your teenager is co-operating with you & the family, as life in the big world is very tough, hard & expensive to survive. Why is it that, there are so many people, especially who owns cats & dogs, they don't look after them. To me, it doesn't matter what animal you choose to own. If you chose a pet to have, it is your responsibility to look after it. A pet is the same way as looking after a child. You need to vaccinate it, play with it, get them some pet toys, exercise it, clean its droppings, feed it, give it something to drink & put it to bed. With all these responsibilities, nothing is...
Ketyad
This really goes without saying, if you have a pet you must care for it properly. Failing to do tis is abuse and those people should be punished. I am not a pet owner or lover and I do think some people are nuts in the way they care for their animals, house pets that is , farm animals are different. Some people do treat their animals better than people, this to me in crazy and unnecessary. A couple of examples would be allowing you dog, for example, to share your bed. Sometimes sleeping between two people, or putting sweaters on dogs when they already have been evolved to handle the colder weather. here is another, someone I know lets the dog out to have a pee, when the dog reenters the house the "parents" wipe the dogs behind with a tissue. This behavior is over the top and these people should be in a rubber room somewhere!

People around me have been receiving phone scams for the past four years. They sometimes have your correct personal information and trick you about your credit card, home internet, and undeliverable packages. How long do you think it will be before we have total gender equality? And I mean TOTAL gender equality where women are paid the same as men for doing the same work. Where women have the same chance of promotion. Where they are treated the same as men in every respect. A recent study has concluded that at the present rate of progress, it will take another 213 years before women will reach total gender equality. What do you think? Do you agree that...
Anneliese
Look I have nothing against gender equality, but when places promote or employ people based on gender or race just to tick an equality box requirement, rather than that person being actually qualified for a job then there's an issue. Unfortunately this happens a lot, so skilled very qualified people are loosing positions to people with lesser skills simply because they're female or of a certain race. But it means the efficiency and the competency within workplaces reduces.

Do you think that everyone should receive the same pay as what the government is saying? I don t agree, as you work your butt off to earn a high salary by putting yourself through education and university, to earn a top paid job. Then you have people that are so lazy, decides to finally get a job and wants to earn as what you have. This is wrong. What do you think?
Claude H
You must be paid enough now so stop bleating. Think of all those people who are just existing through no fault of their own. You chose to get your education while others could not afford that way of life. This does not mean they are not capable. There are many highly educated people that are incompetent and do not deserve what they are paid.

With so many scams escalating, I would really like to know, what is currently circulating. The latest one I got was a text message just saying "Hello". As we get used to recognising scam calls and text, all of a sudden it changes and something else starts. What is the latest one's you have received?
Heather the Chocoholic
Thankfully my phone usually comes up with a potential scam warning. Most numbers are overseas numbers, Aussie usually. I don't usually answer calls from numbers I don't know, if it's important they will leave a message.
Emails are a bit easier to workout if a scam, claim to be from a genuine company, if in doubt always check the email address, usually a "mistake" in it.

As we already know in every country around the world there are good and bad people. Although when we stop for a moment and hear the media such as the news or read newspaper all we ever hear is bad, bad, terrifying news which involves crime, Stabbings, shootings, theft, assaults., hurting innocent people, causing pain to families, causing injuries/ death, road rage.Running people over and leaving them on the road to die and not render help. Hurting our kids, the elderly especially that are more vulnerable and easy targets especially if they are blind or deaf. I think personally if society keeps going this way we will not even be able to step outside of our homes , because we are all too scared and feel we could be next targeted. We are all struggling, whether it's due to the cost of living, job, unemployment, or health, People's moods and mental thoughts do not give the right to anyone to take it out on others or hurt those who are innocent and destroy people's lives. I agree with you that this seems to happen every time you take part in one of those impossibly long surveys. We can't seem to do the right thing can we? We are told Never to Rush, Always take our time, give honest and thought out answers and when we do as told we get punished for doing so. Maybe Rewardia and those they run the survey for should sit down and have a chat about allowing us time to complete their surveys.

Should having a pet be a right as a tenant, within reason? I see more and more people being forced to give up family pets because no landlords allow them anymore, and I can t imagine how heartbreaking that must be.
Neo
I can't believe that we are having this topic again. It was already done within the last month.
In Australia, at least in Victoria, a landlord cannot refuse you on the basis of pets and nor can they kick you out if you get pets afterwards. I think that this is terrible as, at the end of the day, it is your house and your rules.
The other problem I have with it is many people that rent do not care about the property they rent to start with because it is not theirs and these type of people would allow pets to damage and destroy the house and the type of damage these tenants do, the bond is not enough to even pay for the materials needed to repair the property, much less any tradespeople to do the work.
The other issue I have is certain tenants are always behind on their rent and bills and will use pets as excuses on why they are behind. Even worse, they may not be able to afford to care for the pet (basic food and vet care) and this is abuse.
I am a pet owner but would never even think about having a pet unless I can afford it.

Criticism is envy, right? I get criticised so often by my "friends". I just really don't understand why people do this. It really brings me down. No matter what I say to them. It's outta envy, right?
Bugalugs
Criticism is envy? Is that some new psycho-babbler's clap-trap to make people feel good about themselves?
If someone criticises another person it is usually because of some, rightly or wrongly, perceived failing in what that person does or says and most certainly not because they do or say something of which the critic is envious.
Maybe Its Time to have a good hard look at yourself and consider whether what you say or do is deserving of criticism or do you really think that every word you utter, ever thing you do is so perfect, so ideal it is all above criticism and that you and you alone are always in the Right!
If my friends criticse me I accept it and then check out if what I have said is wrong.

You can forgive those that hurt you, but forgetting is harder, if not impossible. Be careful who you trust. Guard your heart.

When 'rich countries' rob poor nations, it is called 'capitalism'. When 'poor countries' fight back it is called 'socialism'.

I remember 20 plus years ago when landlines were still common, getting phone calls in the evening to complete a survey. It would go on sometimes for a good half hour and they were not paid surveys. So if I get frustrated from screening out, I think of the phone surveys I did for free and at least the online surveys pay something lol. Does anyone still get contacted to do an unpaid telephone survey, or are they a thing of the past?

Nah I only get my Nigerian friend who tells me I am about to inherit and my Indian mate who tells me I have a problem with my computer. Am very lucky to have all these well advised "friends."

Hi all just wondering if anyone that redeems vouchers through gift pay has actually redeemed a Countdown e- voucher? Because I am thinking of doing so now that I have accumulated enough to cash out.If anyone has,I am interested to know how you redeemed this in store because I see you can't redeem online with them.I did ring their customer service the other day but I think the woman was confused and thought I was referring to a gift card.I don't have access to a printer either...
Fonz33
Yes, I use them all the time. Can't use online unfortunately. Probably easier to save up to $100 then do a big shop through a manned checkout. Personally though, I tend to go almost every day and buy a few things in self service. Can never get it to scan properly, but I just write down the code on a piece of paper and enter it in then write the balance down when I get out to the car. Have to cut out the first 3 digits I think it is when entering it in, should start with 924701

When central banks raise interest rates, the impact is felt far and wide. Mortgages become more expensive, house prices might fall and unemployment can rise. So why do central banks do it?
BLM
Raising interest rates is a way of reducing the growth of aggregate demand and the amount of money in circulation, which can lead to lower inflation. By making it more expensive to borrow money, the Fed (USA) hopes to discourage consumer and business spending, especially on big-ticket items like housing and cars. Raising interest rates also tends to lower asset prices, reversing the wealth effect and making banks more cautious in lending. Raising interest rates might seem harsh when prices are already high, but it's intended to eventually cause a slowdown in economic growth and a drop in inflation..

Do people use manners these days, or are they not needed or outdated? One of the first words my children learnt was "ta" and if they wanted something they would point and say "ta ta". Now no-one seems to say please, thank you or certainly not excuse me. Why is that? The boy living next door to me never speaks as he walks past. He was born there and has known me all of his life, yet he has never once said "hello" even when I'm having a conversation with his parents,...
Luna
Did you ever stop and think that their son has anxiety or something else going on and he simply can't answer? The fact that you don't even think about why a person doesn't say hello back is rude in itself. Are you so self absorbed that that you think everyone just needs to behave the way you want them to? The fact his parents don't force him is a good thing.

With so many streaming services and heaps of channels, I often don't know what to watch. Is there something you would recommend that's airing at the moment? I'm watching The last of Us on Foxtel, but it's limited episodes left. So needs some inspiration on what to watch next whether it be movies, TV series or a documentary series. I love them all. I have multiple streaming services so recommendations from any please.

I don't have any 'streaming services' (aka a cheap bastard - lol) on my computer - also I don't 'own' a TV - hence - I don't have 'any' suggestions on what to watch next. CIAO

What would the Earth be like if humans had never existed? This has been the basic question of the study of the University of Aarhus, in which it has been resolved that the world of mammals would be very different. So much so that we could find rhinoceroses or elephants in Europe, for example. What do you think, would the world be better off without humans?
writerrochelle
Humans aren't the problem. Inherited sin through our original parents because of disobedience, listening to Satan, the Devil, is the problem, and from the beginning God has told us in the Bible what that caused, what will fix the problem, but not exactly when. Only God knows when it will happen. Read Matthew chapter 24. We know from the signs of the end recorded in the Bible that we are living in the last days. Soon the Great Tribulation will occur, then Armageddon, them a Paradise Earth, as God purposed it to be! I'm waiting as patiently as I can, without any doubt! Read Isaiah 45:18 in the Bible. I'm just a messenger. You can agree to disagree, or you can read the scriptures I've suggested to find the Truth! ;-D

Has anyone ever noticed how the models in the anti aging cream ads don t look old enough to have wrinkles. When are the sponsors going to wake up to the fact that women of Australia are not stupid, only elderly women have wrinkles not 40-year-olds. If they want us to believe these ads, then use models of 60 + who would have wrinkles and see if these creams actually work, or maybe they don t want us to know the truth .
Gigi
Silliest question ever. Of course they don't want us to know the truth. That's called MARKETING. And our skin has protective layers, and these creams can't even get to the layers that need restorative therapy in the first place. So disappointed in how the women of the world are so caught up in any fad, no matter the cost, to stay looking young. Hey, you!!!!!!! If you are old enough to have wrinkles, I'm smart enough to see them. No matter how much of that cream you put on everyday to make your insecure self feel "younger". Age is a number, not defined by grey hair or lines on your face. It's called natural degeneration and IT'S NOT YOUR ENEMY. Wisdom of life is far more valuable.. You'll never find me falling for STUPID, no matter how it's advertised. So wake up humans and grow a brain. Read more. You'll be much more beautiful for being able to carry on a conversation and having a great personality. Not your eye cream that's not helping, and not your clothes label hidden where no one can see what it says. Your not impressing me. Btw, I'm 52 and look fabulous and am beautiful and don't throw my money away. I'm as God intended me to be.

Why are the Hospital Insurance Funds pricing us out of being able to afford the insurance? Is it deliberate, because as we get older, we need more medical care, or do they just not care about us older, loyal customers. We have been loyal members of our Hospital Insurance fund for over 50 years and are now paying over $400 per month on a pension. This to me is so wrong! When we become pensioners, our payments should be adjusted accordingly, especially for anyone...

The Australian government has made a proposal to bring about the possibility of IDENTITY.. to access the internet. Our prime minster said it would reduce bulling on social-media. It's only being discussed at this stage. Do you think this would be a good idea if it's given the go ahead? We have to use ID for many situations, like opening bank accounts, so why not the internet as well. If it passes into law will you be bothered by this, or not?
Paul
I have reservations about this one! Seems like a sledgehammer to squash a flea. My immediate reaction is a bit like the essential basis of democracy going back many centuries being "The Seperation of Church and State". Yes, I'm comparing "Church" to "Internet", which will offend many people! But more of us spend more time using the Internet than participating in faith based social activities. Having said that, I had a friend/client scammed out of several thousand dollars by an internet fraudster who also tried to get his wife' identity, scan of Drivers Licence, Birth Certificate etc. Bullying IS a serious thing, in any form but I am uneasy about Government involvement in our privacy. More "Traditional" Policing methods & education of legitimate users to know what to look out for seems less draconian. Happy Monday!

As if things weren't bad enough, I have today received an e-mail from AGL informing me that they are taking away their 5c feed in tariff (and probably all other utility companies are doing the same.) This has to be nothing more than pure greed. I am pretty sure they will weather the hard times we are going through better than their customers will.

My husband and I have discussed solar panels and decided that should we ever get them because yes I believe that are a great idea but we've come to the conclusion that unless we can afford to buy a battery to store any excess power that we won't use at the time it's not worth it cause you just get ripped off by greedy power companies because they buy it off you for next to nothing then sell it back at huge profits.

We didn't want to shut down over COVID-19 because we would lose money...we started opening up too early, so we could make more money....we cannot stop global warming in time because it would cost too much and our "economies" would suffer...we cannot apply proper sanctions to Russia because they are supplying everyone with power...it would cost too much to stop all death and murder going on in their current invasion... Britain hasn't applied the same sanctions...
Evie
We did not open too early; we shouldn't have shut down. We didn't shut down for Swine flu, bird flu, or any other health issue. The problem isn't money, it's rampant inflation due to an idiot who shouldn't be in charge. For anyone who hates capitalism, I do hope you live in (or move to) a socialist county. Television, mobile phone, which invention for you was the best ever? For me, hands down, it has been the microwave. It has made my life so much easier. I can remember nights when the meat wouldn't thaw or the bread was a frozen lump, but now nothing is a problem. I can defrost, thaw or cook whatever I want whenever I want. Do you think that the property market will keep rising, and if so, how do you think the generations today and upcoming will be able to afford housing?
gordy
If you are in the market, you buy you sell the dividends are the same. Future generations are unable to buy property because everyone the older generation is investing and negative gearing with portfolios connected to their super. The cost of buying and keeping up with technology is eating up our money with iPhones and internet connection and also smart technology. The aged care sector has bought all the small home units that use to be a way for first home buyers to enter the market. Whose responsible? the Government are always involved.

Unfortunately, money and poor health is a problem so I cannot live the life I would like. I do not have any friends as my sisters were my friends and they have passed. It is a bit lonely and at times I also feel very invisible to people around me i.e. in shops etc. and I really do not like being treated as some idiotic insignificant person. When I go to the doctors and explain my symptoms it is usually brushed off with Oh it's your age or gender. I would have loved to travel more as I enjoyed every country I visited. Best idea I've ever heard. My wife suffers from emphysema due to her years of smoking. She's 72 and is like 92 years old. I'm the same, never smoked, and can run a marathon. if needed. Smoking is not cool and will impact you in later years.

Always wondered but never quite got the awnser, what does cheating mean to you. Everyone looks at things differently in life and has there own opinion but can anyone even clarify what's the terms of cheating.
Judy CH
The worst thing is having someone cheat on you and when you ask them they lie and make you feel as if you are in the wrong, and when found out and they leave it is worse than when someone close dies, the one who dies doe not leave you by choice and then quite often the one they took up with rubs your nose in it. You can forgive but you can never forget, even after 30 odd years certain things make you remember and hurt.

Hitting even the most selfish people in their wallets and purses with No Recourse to claim from Medicare would have an immediate effect. What does it mean to live? Does it mean simply to exist? I guess Oscar Wilde speaks about one's aspiration, desire to live and to create, wanting to do more than move on from one day to the next, and the fact that many people settle in a routine and refuse to get out of it. So what does it mean to merely exist as opposed to truly live, embrace each moment of life?
Rod R 101788
Live to work or work to live, maybe live to exist or exist to live is more appropriate.
How about be happy to live & live to be happy.
Adjust any of that to suit yourself because your life is about you.

Do you notice how often doctors tend to put up their fees? Do you think they charge the public too much? I heard that more people would visit a doctor if they didn't charge so much. Why do the fees vary so much? Should they not be capped?

Doctors are forced to charge high rates so they can cover their university fees plus staff wages and other general business fees. Also every time they attend a routine status upgrade session to improve their abilities, they have to pay to this - so they need to cover this.

As a former teacher I get very concerned when I hear so many demands for things to be taught in school which I believe should be the role of parents. In the meantime parents complain about falling standards in basic reading, spelling, writing and mathematics. What makes a parent think a young 20 something unmarried, childless teacher is better equipped than the parent to teach things like diet and nutrition, gardening, morals, sexuality, driving, swimming, camping, etc. What do...
David C
In my experience as a parent and an early years (birth-11) teacher, not everyone can be good at both or either. So as a society we help out with those who struggle, educate where we can, help where possible and be there all the time. For me personally, I could take my degree elsewhere and make more money, but it's more important for me that I help produce an amazing cohort of Kiwi's.

When I was young, kids did as we were told, no questions asked. We were never exposed to the conversations of adults. When visitors came for afternoon tea, us kids were sent outside to play. We never questioned the rules that were set by our parents. Kids nowadays have a lot more to say about how things should be done, both inside and outside the home. Do you think this has gone too far?

Children should not be exposed with adult issues. Let them be children and free from stress for as long as they can. Outside is better than indoors. Children have too much internet time and less exercise.

Technology for all its benefits is a great thing. But how many times have you seen glued to their screens, constantly? A lot of this is because of Facebook, that keeps everybody connected, whatever we're doing, while in the background quietly gathering our data and making millions of dollars in advertising. And of course partnering very nicely with Google.. These devices are great, sure. But look at what we are giving up, just to be interconnected!!

Do you ever think about your existence? Who created you, where do you go once you die, who gave life? I always had an wondering about afterlife and whether Heaven and Hell were actually real. Share your thoughts and experiences!
Russel B
I think about existence and the wondrous subjects of creation
and of life after death. I also think very much about mortality. Where do we go
after death, if we go anywhere? These are all challenging thoughts and the
older you get the more you think about it. Your emotions come rushing to the
surface of your thoughts.
In most of us we are taught to believe in a God, or higher
power; someone or something that created life and put us on the Earth to exist
and live a normal life. Of course, the kind of life we live is coloured or
influenced by our environment and again, by our upbringings and circumstances, education,
and beliefs. We should remember that for every action and decision there are
consequences.
Most religions nearly always come to a similar conclusion at
the end of life. I do not include the fundamentalists who persist in taking a
severe approach to matters and doing things to society against the accepted
norm (actions and consequences).
In 2015 I was conducting a criminal case in Sydney that was
moved from the Downing Centre to the Central Criminal Court. On my way to the
Central Court, I was crossing Castlereagh Street and a few paces before I
reached the other side I had a Cardiac arrest. I remember going down and my
secretary screaming but that was all. Apparently, a young man caught me from
behind and proceeded to administer CPR. I came to and was taken to RPA Hospital
where after two Angiograms I had a Defibrillator implanted. This was a quick
way of letting me know that it was time to retire. I was 74 at the time.
I still think very much about that day and how lucky I was to
survive. Despite it all, there was nothing on the other side to relate; there
was no bright light or rushing wind like near-death stories talk about. But
perhaps I had not died in the true sense of the word? The experience has made
me think about all these things very deeply and realise we are here on Earth
to look after one another as best we can. I have three adult sons, a darling
wife of 54 years of marriage, and 6 Grandchildren.
Perhaps we weren’t meant to know all about our own existence and
mortality? It may come later...I wonder.

Same are happy having a child. Same of us don't want to have kids. They are peoples out they don't feel a needed to have a child. Peoples think something is wrong of me not having a child. Will change in years to came.
Lones
Your choice, and no body else’s business. Some would give anything to be a parent, some shouldn’t be parents, others live with regrets, and most of us wouldn’t change a thing and the learning curves that come with being a parent. Follow your wishes

A lot of children and teenagers, don't understand the dangers of what is lurking around online. Children are quite often cyber bullied, or fall into online grooming. A lot of them aren't even aware they are not cyber safe. Should we teach them more about the dangers out there?
BLM
Do children and teenagers need to be more cyber-safe - YES (quite obviously). However, this is strictly the responsibility of a PARENT(S) - law enforcement becomes involve after the damage is done to a child or a teenager - the parent responsibility is to stop the problem before damage is done to a child or a teenager - (because we all know predators are everyone - especially online - and predators prey on the weak and/or unaware!!!!!!.)

I really did not use what I learned from school into my growing years, It was more of a 'learn as you go' situation for me which I hated so much, I would have liked more lift skills. What would you like to see replaced or included in the children's education?
Jacq
Agree we need to go back to basic maths, spelling and sounding the alphabet. Just crazy how kids work out sums I can't help my grand-kids and when I do I get the answer so much faster than them. Need to learn how to cook basic things & sew on a button. Algebra was the most useless thing I learnt, never had cause to use it.

The word happiness is overused. A better goal would be contentment that allows for the fact that you cant always have what you want. Result should be less stress along with better physical and mental health.
Katzeye
Happiness is not a false goal at all, happiness is a term used for what and whoever makes you happy,eg: I feel great happiness and joy whenever I spend time with my children.

Feeling bored? Add you random comments and frustrations here! Have fun!
APB
I usually try out helpful advice from the adverts here...putting a cat biscuit in your ear (cures deafness)...or stand barefoot in urine (kills foot fungus)...today's fun one appears to be pouring a large glass of orange juice over your head (that helps your hair grow back apparently)...wonderful stuff...

July 1st, Canada Day is over. Next is July 4th, America's day to celebrate their country. I am assuming that Australia and New Zealand also have a day when they celebrate theirs. I asked if you are proud of your country. I am extremely proud of mine. I wouldn't want to be anything else but Canadian. Tariffs have been used for years. Nothing new to us. But the second the phrase "51st state" was uttered I saw a change in my country. For years we have been...
Woodster
Well said Phyllis. I love my country, Australia, but there is increasing division here these days and I feel a lot of it has been brought about by our government. Those of us who want the 'old Australia' back are ridiculed by those who lean to the left. I would love it if we could all come together for the good of our country as you guys seem to have done. Well done.

All my life I've been in a stressful job and could hardly wait to retire. Well, I'm retired and can't stand it. I'm soooooo bored. I've never really had a hobby and desperately wanting something as rewarding, as my job was, to fill in the time. Any suggestions and is anyone else in the same boat?
Cory - CANADA
I'm retired and I get bored too...here's what I do: I do diamond painting for hours. It's relaxing, fun and takes away any stress you might have. You may be asking "what is diamond painting"? It's almost like paint by numbers except you don't use paint, you use beads. I have done everything from flowers to scenery to custom diamond painting (portraits of my grand children or other family members). It keeps me out of trouble too. LOL

I find it quite irritating that I get 3 points compensation from getting disqualified from surveys
Felicity O
Why bother? I have just completed 2 surveys in a row, only to be screened out both times when I submitted them. Do survey companies use our data after they have kicked us to the curb? I am getting fed-up with this screened out habit. Kick us out at the beginning, don't waste our time!

When a business indicates they open at 8 am, I will call them right at 8 am and expect someone to answer the phone. Most of the time, noone answers. It seems noone answers the phone for about 15 to 30 minutes until after their opening time. Some places never answer the phone. Is this the same all over the world now? Am I getting old to expect a business to answer the phone as soon as they open?
P F
Get a life. My business is open at 8:30...I like to get a coffee/talk to staff...I'm on at 8:40. WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT YOU THAT NEED THE SECOND WE COME ON.....no really what to know?
