Why hoard away all this cash for a future that may not even happen when you can spend it now and enjoy it? I will never retire anyway, I love my work. Retirement is for people who are ready to give up on life.
TERRIE K
I had to go into forced retirement due to a chronic injury and illness. I was lucky my late husband left me some money as I can't get any government benefits because I'm too young. My illness isn't recognised by centrelink so I do not get any money. I'd go back to work if it was possible.

In French railway stations they have little pedal devices...you sit down pedal away for a little while and recharge your phone/laptop it's free...and popular....why don't we harness ALL of our keep fit equipment...treadmills exercise bikes Gym equipment...you name it...and run all of that wasted energy into the grid where it is needed?...every little helps...

You\u2019ve got to be careful though. I accidentally plugged the electric blanket into the toaster, and I was popping out of bed all night!

I find that when I am booking budget holidays, I do not always know what sort of accommodation I will get. These days I would like a flat or a room without stairs, but sometimes the access information is not given. Do you have any advice about getting suitable budget holiday accommodation?

Have you ever been under hypnosis? What did you learn?
Goddy
Yes I have been and it was the most scary of times. I was taken back to my childhood where something horrendous happened and I now remember it more clearly than before.

So I've lost contact with a friend years ago due to her only being there for me in my good times, not my bad. I'm in a good place now, and she wants to be mates again. Would it be a bad idea to befriend someone like that and give another chance?
Ketyad
Tamz, you are answering your own question. If you have been able to "survive" without this shallow friend in your life continue to do so. She has made contact with you, what could that reason be? Did you recently win the Lotto, is she sick, unwell, and needing support, has she apologized or is there anything to apologize for/ There are just so many questions but my initial reaction is continue on without her.

I would have to say my four kids. Because they are my life. If I'm down and out, all I have to do is look at their precious faces and all my worries goes away. They keep me on my toes. There's never a dull moment with them. They give my life meaning, and they spell out joy for me.
Claude H
I would not pick on any single person as I have 6 children 17 grandchildren 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. They are all precious.

How is it that airlines can get away with dirty water on their planes? Many waters (not bottled) have been tested a d have been found to have bacteria. Sometimes even E. coli. It's no wonder the pilots never drink tea or coffee. Would you risk the water on the plane for their noodle cups? The ice cubes are made in the airport. I used to drink tea (on flights) but no longer. How about you?
Joe King
So what scientific research has come up with this conclusion. What absolute rubbish? On every flight here, we are given a sealed bottle of water.

If you are watching other people s children, and they seriously misbehave, and you can t just walk away from them for any reason is it ok to discipline another person s child?
Brick
Absolutely - You can't let them get away with bad behaviour or they will take full advantage of it and you! Let them know you are in charge and should be respected. If their parents don't like you disciplining them, they don't have to leave them with you. And they probably leave them with you because they can't control them and hope you will teach them some respect.

Many of us are told "Hey you're a natural! Have you ever considered ... as a career?" We're often told to pursue our talents, but is this good advice? Isn't it better to learn how to strengthen our weaknesses, which would offer possibly more of an opportunity for personal growth? How many of us have made a career out of our talents anyway? What do you think? Which method have you used, and how has that worked for you?
Aamiya (Auckland, NZ)
Depends on what your talents are I guess.
I don't really have any talents unless you count dealing with people. I hate it though! I'm a Legal Executive so I deal with people all the time so I guess I have kind of used my talent.

I was taught to be better 10 minutes early, than one minute late, no matter where you are going, because people who are always late have no respect for anyone. Even for any appointments or interviews, as if you are late, you are going to be stressed & panicking for not being there on time. Does anyone else think the same as me?
Bear
IF I WAS ONE MINUTE LATE FINISHING. I WOULD HAVE BEEN SACKED. I WAS A NEWS VISION EDITOR, IF I DID NOT HAVE THE LEAD STORY IN THE SYSTEM WITHOUT SAYING IT WAS NOT READY HELL TO PAY. FORTUNATELY THAT NEVER HAPPENED. THE CLOSEST I CAME I REMOTED THE MACHINE AS THE READER WAS READING THE INTRO.

When I was younger, I was able to make a few dollars during the summer to be able to go spend at the store how I pleased (candy and ice cream, of course) I was hit with a sad realization the other day when my 11 year old son and his friend looked around to make some money. There was little to nothing that people around would pay them to do. They asked people if they could walk their dogs, tried to sell iced tea and were eager to start up lawn mowers (which I would...

It's a petty sad state of affairs when one has to start working at any age. Once 'work' is started in never ends (even in retirement.) We should try and let kids be kids as long as possible because like time itself, once it passes it never comes back.

Do you think reaching out to therapy is worth it? Mental health awareness. So many suffer from depression yet not everyone seeks help (my good friend :(. ) Need advice on how to help someone to go through a rough patch
BLM
Is reaching out for therapy (mental health) - a good idea? YES! Is this individual at the point - that he or she knows that they need to converse with a mental health specialist/professional? Does this individual have a 'health plan' that covers depression? If not, can this individual afford to visit a mental health specialist/professional on a regular basis for 'an extended period of time'?

According to a recent Variety magazine statement, the actor felt his approaching age of 81 as an action star was an important factor he wanted to convey for Indy, explaining that he wanted the character to look old and for the film to be highly ambitious in that fact. Ford turns 81 in a few weeks, and in his own word has 'grown up' and 'grown old' with his dear "Indy." "It completes 42 years of work," says Ford, of this emotional moment in his career. "It's a...

My son is 2.5 years old and for health reasons we have to keep him out of daycare. This was easy enough when the weather was nice as we would go to the park/beach, but now it's getting cold and rainy we're often stuck inside. What's your go to rainy day activity for little ones?
Gigi
You can also put on rainy day wear and go puddle stomping and for walks with the umbrella. Rain doesn't have to be a sentence to the indoors. Walk an indoor mall. They usually have little people areas to climb on soft big animals or ride a little train or carousel indoors. At least the malls in America have those features. Hopefully there too.

If you walk down a sidewalk when they fix it, they don t make sure it is level. Store have small lips or steps just before you go into a strip plaza. Malls isles aren t wide enough. Old restaurant do even have to be handicap friendly. How can we fix this problem.

In Armadale we have a shopping centre near us where the whole front pathway of the shops is sloping. It is hairy when trying to negotiate this and feeling like you are going to tip over. One shop in the same suburb is renowned for having boxes and boxes of goods stuck in their aisles. Trying to negotiate this last year, I knocked over a pile of boxes and smashed at least one large ornament and probably more in those boxes. It is so frustrating! Have not been back in there since but have observed from outside the shop that their aisles are slightly better, but far from acceptable yet!. On the other hand my Woolworths in Kelmscott has wide clear aisles free from obstructions. And apart from that, they are always helpful and considerate. Most Woolies shops have the same wide aisles and clear pathways and on behalf of us with wheelchairs, may I say a huge thank you to them. How can we fix the problem - stick all the powers that be in wheelchairs and send them off for a day to shop! Perhaps that might wake them up.
Edit: Wow, I just noticed some of the comments on here and am really gobsmacked! We do not expect perfection, but let me just say that money can be found for many minority groups who are always in the media, we can find money to float a republic, have a debate about putting an first nation voice in parliament, give pay rises to politicians who don't deserve them (some do), and fund hundreds and thousands of dollars worth of fireworks, political lunches and heaps of other selfish causes. But a ramp into a shopping centre or an even entry - wow, aren't we selfish and entitled???!!! Hope some of you don't get to the stage where you face some of the problems we do!

If you decided to build a library of DVD movies...instead of paying a monthly rental service that is mainly doing this for you...what movies would be in your list?....things that you can easily watch again and again and still be amazed by them?... I have just watched "The Three Amigos" for maybe the tenth time or more, and it still makes me fall about laughing....

Our house is packed of stuff we don't need. I am really thinking about downsizing the house and also stuff we collected over the years. My spare room is full of stuff we bought online for great price, and we never really used it. And that just made me think how many belongings we need for day by day living? How do you keep on the top of your stuff? What are your tips? What stuff should go?

So is my house … stuff from my daughter still here after she got married and moved out over 6 years ago … toys from grandchildren that they have grown out of … and oodles of other stuff that just seems to accumulate over time … I just haven’t got the energy to sort it out and get rid of it ??

We often hear people talk about the work/life balance. We don't all get the perfect scale when it comes to balancing. How do you ensure you maintain a good balance between the two?

Don't make your work your life's priority. Employers don't give a stuff. Do your work diligently and don't take work home. Your own health and wellbeing is more important, and those who you love.

The rental crisis in New Zealand & Australia has seen families struggling to find a home, and tenants with a roof over their heads are claiming that they are being treated poorly. Have you been in a situation where your landlord or property manager has failed to meet their obligations to organise repairs within a reasonable time frame, or been in a dispute where you've had to source legal advice?
Bugalugs
If the Federal Government would simply ban all Foreign Investment is Housing and scrap Negative Gearing for All Housing this would, reportedly, open up 10s of 1000s of Houses, Flat etc. for rent. It is also reported that those who own Housing - both Foreign and Australian Residents - deliberately keep their properties un-occupied for Tax Purposes. We hear Politicians, the Unions and others constantly complaining about how Multi-National Corporations pay Little or No Tax on their revenues in Australia - Successive Federal Governments - both ALP and Coalition - have failed to close off the mechanisms these organisations use to avoid paying any Tax. But never a word from any of them about the deliberate, but Legal, rorts, scams, cons - call them what you will, used by Politicians, Union Bosses and others to avoid paying tax on their own Housing Properties which they deliberately keep Un-Tenanted. One Federal ALP MP reportedly has $12 million invested in housing - he conveniently "forgot" to list a $1miilion property in his Asset Disclosure Statement to the Federal Parliament and his mates, both ALP and Coalition, in the very same Parliament did NOTHING.
They won't do anything to put a stop to these scams because they are all up to their necks in this sort of Corruption and are Operating a Protection Racket for themselves.
Faint hope it may, be but maybe the new wave of Independent, so-called Teal - Members of the Federal Parliament - unless they have their snouts in the same trough of Corruption - will force the Albanese ALP Federal Government to actually get off it's self-satisfied, greedy backside and address this issue.

Do you have the income, so you can see a Dentist often for a check-up and a clean to your teeth? Say every six months is the general time frame to get checked. Or are you one of the people that simply can't afford to go to the Dentist and only go when you have a toothache and have to pay off the bill or get assistance from Winz (Work and Income New Zealand, provide income support)? I feel the prices are too expensive and that is why the majority don't go...
Judy CH
My teeth are falling to pieces and since we were scammed out of $53,500 things have been tough making ends meet, I have asked WINZ 3 times for help but they keep saying you have too much in the bank, we only have enough to cover the mortgage, power, rates etc but no help. If I go to the dentist the only place the money can come from is our food money so I am well and truly stuffed. But they can put people who play the system in emergency accommodation and pay $1,000 a week. Plus help them pay rent arrears and repairs for their last house they trashed!!

Australian gas companies are potentially going to force up gas-prices in Australia. Despite creating enough gas, they prefer to export much of it to foreign nations. Forcing up the prices higher in our region ... Australia ... and NZ. Should the federal government intervene to prevent price hiking?
Maria B 89860
Yes, we should look after our own needs, we have a lot of poor people here as well who need to cook for their families and keep them warm. A lot of it is being "donated" to hostile parts and they are laughing at us while we scrummage to eek out a living and pay top price for EVERYTHING!

Do you find as you get older you lose more friendships? If so why does this seem to happen? I recently turn 30, I used to have lots of friends in my 20s but now as i grow older i have less. I may not have as many now but the ones that I do have are basically like my family. Maybe we lose friends over years as there not really true friends to begin with? Would love to hear if this happen to other and some secrets in keeping friendships

I ask this, because many phones, computers and, even, some businesses are doing away with passwords and are moving towards fingerprint scanning, iris scanning and chip scans. They claim it's more secure, but I still prefer to use a password, because I find the other new technologies a bit concerning. What are your thoughts about all of this?
Edward S 497347
I was once hacked years ago when I had my businesses. The police told me that one method most used by hackers is entering people's computers through their MSN...ICQ or YAHOO messengers ....The police advised me to delete all messengers from my computer ..... When I was hacked I was hacked on MSN messenger whilst unknowingly chatting to the person who hacked me, whilst she was in my computer sending copies of my business files to everyone on my friend's list

What is it with parents these days? Odd baby names, whether names spelt wrong or using accepted surnames as first names. Some babies are even stuck with names of fruit or items in nature. Through the past years, children who have grown up with unusual first names have always developed psychological problems and have no direction in life. With all the acceptable baby names around, why make up new ones? What do others think?

Why does the government of the day keep saying there is no inflation while the price of food is continuing to rise?
Lachelle B
Have you noticed the decrease in weight and increase in price? Some frozen chips are 900g instead of 1kg. Biscuits have risen but the amount or size has dropped. Grow your own veges and you'll be surprised how much $$$ you save.

Do you listen to songs in other languages? These being languages that you do not speak or understand well (need a translation for). I personally, enjoy listening to songs sung in Aramaic, Russian and Serbian Slavic. Unlike some of my constituents, I do find the interpretation or translation of the song in a language I do understand.

i have heard some beautiful Latino songs, I don't understand the words but the way the music flows is just awesome, and having visited Japan some of the songs I heard are pretty cool too. You really don't have to know the words to appreciate the music/songs..

Should children be permitted to be executors to their parents will? The nominated ones often help themselves to a 'bit extra' as executors fees, which may be legal but not necessarily fair.
CILLY0
It is so hard sometimes as you bring your children up to be fair and honourable and it is so hard to see what the $$$ signs can do to some of them at times. Trust certainly goes out the window with those that are done wrong.

Don't see how the effect is natural when it's not natural??? And I always find it amusing when people put on makeup to get a natural look! I don't understand why people put makeup on everyday. Wouldn't you want to do it on a special occasion so you look "Wow" and not your usual daily routine?

When boys are in an environment with other boys only. They take on a "pack mentality" and don t know how to relate to girls and women. I think co-ed schools are the smarter option. They help raise boys to become decent men.
Bugalugs
No apologies, Johana C but I thinkyour ideas are nonsense. I went to an all boys school and if anything, thanks to the plethora of paedophile teachers - including female ones, who were the biggest bullies of all - we came out as misandrists. Yes, in some ways Co-ed schools are better but let us not forget that girls can be every bit as cruel, nasty, vindictive - especially towards other girls - Their bullying techniques have, somehow, been developed into an art which is passed down from one year to the next and they take that through to their adult lives.
Both demales and males will develop into decent Women and Men if they have the example set for them by their parents. Sadly today Parents would rather rake in buckets loads of money - half of which they waste on After School Care for THEIR children - than actually rearing THEIR children themselves. So children come out of school knowing nothing more than how to bully and are set to be misogynists and misandrists their entire lives.

What do you think of Daylight-saving? Some countries have it, and some don't. Some states, territories, in Australia have it. Some people seem to either love it, or hate it! I think its a bit too long, at least in Australia. I would shorten it by a month, as it gets to dam hot in some parts of country. How does it affect you, if at all? Do you become more happier, or .....moodier?

People think violent movies and video games cause real life violence. But I have to disagree. The majority of people who watch a violent film, don't go out and hurt or kill people. They watch the film, turn it off and then get on with their lives.

I don't know why anyone wants to watch them in the first place...even that is very disturbing..you can make terrifying films without anyone getting killed, it just takes someone with some true skill and ability.

I've slept with the same snorer my parents sleep with: Charlie (Heinz59er, dog), is the loudest sleeper; he snores, farts, barks, yips, grunts, growls, yelps, and even sleepwalks! My parents thought he was possessed the first night he was in the house. I used to love watching the Academy Awards and see people realising their dreams and winning awards for their creative work. But the Oscars isn t what it once was. Actors have become political puppets. No one cares what they think about politics. They should stick to what they do best -- acting!
lippy loo
The glamour has gone and now mostly just trashy outfits and who can show more leg or boobs. No class in a lot of their speeches either. It sometimes feels like the ones that win should not even have been nominated and the better actors have been overlooked due to the money put behind the movie or the actors themselves. It all seems a bit rigged to me these days and I no longer watch it.

All these useless things they teach in the classroom that nobody ever uses. Education departments throughout the world need to step up

Hi I have a dog that's 8 years old and has had arthritis for the last few months. It's hard to deal with and heartbreaking. She won't move around much and seems to be in pain even on meds. Is it best to let her go or hope for the best?

I had a dog that was 8 when she tore a ligament in her back leg . We put her on a product called "biovet joint suplement" mixed into hamburger, within a month she walking on her own six months she was walking up and down stairs again on her own in a yr she was running around almost like when she was young . We kept her on it until she died at 14 1/2. No arthritis.

I think everyone is very naive if they think IT will be the gift to humans. Why do we need it to do our housework or open doors or 1000's of other things we humans can do for ourselves. Yes it can be helpful in operations but controlled by humans just the same. SciFi is coming true as whatever man thinks of he will eventually create and giving AI the tools to teach themselves is a dangerous road to take.
I think scary times are ahead in the future with the scientists just going too far. It is already doing more than delivery of Pizza or cleaning etc. People are talking to them as if they are real live humans and some of these robots actually look very close to that.

What Christmas Traditions do you have? When my brother and I were young, our Dad would always wrap a potato up in lots and lots of newspaper and put it under the tree, and we would be there on Christmas morning unwrapping this huge parcel, only to find Dad had done it again. As we got older we would go to the midnight church service and when we got home open one present from under the tree. I still use the recipe my Grandmother used to make Christmas...

Friends and coworkers think we should get together at the bar regularly for drinks as a girl's night thing and although it sounds nice I can not afford to go. Is it rude or should I trust they understand. I had mentioned once before and heard oh it's only a couple drinks and another girl said I ll buy yours, but I don t think that is fair unless I can return the favour next time, but that wouldn t be the case. What is the right way to go about not seeming rude but not trying to end up...
Angie
Maybe just go one time and order water with a lemon slice and when you get the chance, tell your work mates of your situation. I'm sure they will understand and sympathise with you. And if they offer to buy a round, accept graciously and don't worry about having to pay them back. They wouldn't offer to buy you a drink and expect one in return. I'm sure they're just happy you could join them on a night out. So go girl... and have fun!

I am 42 and for the few months I started having maternal urges. So do think it is a good idea? I have lots of energy and patience but as the child grows up more and more that might change, who knows? I need some advice I have not asked friends and family yet.
Bex
There are so many teen pregnancies, young girls I'll equipped to raise children, both financially, and mentally.. You're probably in a much better financial position, you've got the maturity and life experience, so I say absolutely go for it!

There are rational considerations around a decision, small or big, be about buying something or getting married. We all have come to somehow to a decision. Some people writing down the pros and cons, some follow an outside advice, some...well, some follow their gut feeling! What about you?

We should all have a happy place. A happy place is a situation or activity that makes you happy. For some, it may be when they do art or write. For others, it may be taking a walk, reading a book or perhaps doing online surveys :) What is your happy place?
BLM
I go for a walk (my happy place) - every day (regardless of the weather - but - I reside In Sunny Southern Cailfornia - LOL). I set a fast pace (I walk by myself), I walk in the evening, and I walk for two straight hours. I can literally feel the stress leaving my body.

I saw a TV show where a woman owned a business and her executive assistant was offered another job and when she found out it was a friend of hers who made the offer, she felt betrayed, but the friend said it was just a good business move, and had nothing to do with their friendship. Is that the right attitude? Should business deals, hiring/firing, corporate takeovers, whatever, be made regardless of who the people involved are, even if it's family or friends?
Merlin
The friend who made the offer should have informed the woman. That would have been the decent thing to do.

I m not a prude by any stretch and realise that breastfeeding is a very natural and beautiful thing that shouldn't feel shameful. But in saying that I don't think I'd personally feel the need to put on a breastfeeding exhibition when out in public. I do think some women now do it for attention, posting their breastfeeding pics on Instagram etc.
Leah
I'm sorry, I know it's a natural process (for most women, though not all can do it), but I really don't want to have to see it.

My partner is financially struggling, and I would like to help but at the same time, last time I helped someone financially they screwed me over, and I ended up in debt. I don't want to give up, but we tried most of the solutions
Viola9
You can't really compare it to the last time you helped someone. Everyone is different and not everyone will screw you over. If I had enough money to spare I would help my partner provided he's not blowing all his money on drugs, alcohol, gambling etc. and then expecting others to give him money for his necessities.

I somewhat recently started listening to one podcast and then more recently decided to add another two to my listening roster, but I'm somewhat disappointed in them, one more than the other. So, I'll probably drop that one that's my least favourite of the three... But I'm interested in finding some more to listen to. So, any suggestions/recommendations? I'd be interested in what others might be listening to because perhaps it's long one that I'd never come across on my own. I'm open...

Do you keep your Christmas and birthday cards or do you put them in the rubbish when you have read them, like I do?
Missy Wyld
With my mum in law passing a few weeks ago, the family had the unenviable task of going through her unit to get it ready for sale, as it was in an aged care village.
She kept cards, and the grandkids were going through them, (they are all adults), and found so many from/to their dear 'Pa' that they had sent many years back when they were little (he passed in 1988), and the kids were thrilled to see them & took them home for themselves as keepsakes.
I guess everyone is different, not everyone is sentimental. I feel it's disrespectful to throw them out.

I've planned a surprise party for her 50th birthday, and it went down well with 50 people attending, and it was at several places - and the big one was where I arranged for a friend she hasn't seen for 25 years, and she was surprised. Let's say it was you planning a surprise party for a friend, family member etc. what kind of party would you plan and what kind of food would you have? I am very keen to hear some ideas and views on this?
DeANG
I have planned a surprise party for my husband's 40th, never in my life attempted to do such a thing, so one day the thought came to my head and I spoke to my mother-in-law and she supported me in my decision, I choose a restaurant in Moonee Ponds. Just had mainly family and a few of my hubbies friends. it was a nice group of about 30 people. I had organized the date/time venue menu /birthday cake . All I told my husband was that on the day we were going out for dinner for his birthday although I didn't want him to see where we were going, I got him into the car. Blindfolded him and held on to his hand and guided him while walking, when I got him inside the venue all the family gathered ready to greet him once i took the blindfold off him he got the biggest and most unexpected shock of his life. My husband could not believe how I could keep such a secret, because I am one who gets exciteded .

I've noticed for some time... that the people responsible for replacing our street lights... aren't always replacing them all, or there are usually one or two street lights that haven't been replaced when they blow out. It's often left up to the public to complain. I've had to complain in the past...but they don't always seem to listen, as long as there are few lights blazing and not total darkness. I've noticed the same thing happening in numerous streets over the years. Is...
Viola9
Here in South Australia, if you are the first person to report a faulty street light and they don't fix it within 10 days you can get a GSL payment of $25. GSL stands for Guaranteed Service Level. We don't seem to have too many problems with street lights around where I live.

Only spend what you have to. People buy things that are not needed, so their money disappears before their eyes. There are many ways to save, some better than others, so use your imagination. I had plans to go to Ukraine this year but that has been put on hold for now.

I came up with a thought. Why not have a section where people could write a review of various forms of media such as a film, TV show, book, music album or a video (music, short film, a viral video, etc). For example, people could pick a topic and a title, like a new release movie and write a critical review of it along with a rating out of five stars and if they recommend it or not. This could come under the FORUMS section or GAME COMMENTS...

Could we please have more ‘play again’ options, so we don’t have to go back & forth to the list?
Especially with ones like Trivia, because if you go to the list, you get a preview of the question, & I would rather not know the question till I get there.

Have you ever had a melody or the song's lyrics, that just kept playing in your mind, and you wanted it out? Did you find a way to get rid of it, or did you succumb to it's power?

I just opened the cupboard and there they were. After removing everything from that shelf (there is always one shelf that they seem drawn to) and getting rid of as many as I could, I clean the shelf, shut the door. 2 minutes later, open the door, and the ones I misses are gathering in a corner, l swear they are laughing at me! So, I put down the borax/sugar mix, which is supposed to kill them, but of course they avoid it. Any Rewardians have better solutions for keeping...

Do you still keep in touch with your childhood friends? I used to be inseparable with my best friend from primary school for many years, she was even my maid of honour during my wedding ceremony. And yet, now, over the years our ways have somehow parted. Would you say your experiences are similar?
Mooi
It wasn't until I started work at the age of 15 years that I made a good friend. I was bullied all through school. Then I found a great job where I met my best friend and the people I worked with were fantastic. Then my dad decided we should emigrate to Australia from the UK and I left my friends and my beautiful dog behind. Don't get me wrong I mostly love Australia apart from the Government, I have been married since 1979, four wonderful daughters, four grandchildren and a greyhound who is now my best friend, companion and confidante, she never gossips.

I know many do not have a father, unfortunately, some do not even have a father figure in their life..but I thought it would be nice for us to talk about our fathers or a father figure in our lives. My dad has done a lot for me. My mom is now better (Thank God), but when I was growing up, she was ill a lot. Which, called for my dad to step up many times and fill both roles for my siblings and I. This all as he juggled a job and cared for my mother. Next, comes my brother,...
Sue H
Its my mother that affected my life. She told me from very early on, she was disappointed the day I was born as I wasnt the 3rd son she had to have. She told me, I was fat, ugly, dumb, stupid would amount to nothing in life. She said, when Sue was born she was so ugly we threw away the baby and kept the afterbirth. She refused to name me, so after 2 weeks Dad named me. She said the only kind of man I will ever attract into my life will be blind and handicapped, so he wont see how ugly Iam and will be more intelligent than me. When it came out that I had been sexually abused and raped for years by my eldest brother, she went into overdrive to help, protect and support him, she did nothing for me.
My Dad died on a Tuesday, my mother sent my other brother around on the Friday to tell me, after the funeral. I found out through an Aunty, that my mother got all the people that she wanted to the hospital to see Dad and say their goodbyes, my son and I werent asked.
I miss my Dad and think of him every day, he was a weak man and my mother loved that, she treated him so badly. Dad was a good man.

An update to my earlier post! Recklessly (Or should that be "Wreck".....) I succumbed to DIY temptation again not long after writing it, after all what harm could another small bookcase do? Duly went online to find a matching one, only available in White now, that's OK, I have no colour bias, perfect harmony with the Black one..... Arrived on my doorstep this morning, great! Cold day, nothing like a bit of DIY on a cold winter's day to get the blood pumping, as long as I don't get any one the carpet. Lifted the box up...TRIED to lift the box up....it slowly dawned on me that this "Thing" was a whole heap bigger & heavier than the other one. Dragged it inside & propped it up against the dining table, where it remains. I'll get onto it tomorrow, maybe, after I've moved the furniture. It wont fit where I'd planned.
My biggest dilemma though is they sent me one worth $50 not the one I paid $20 for, what should I do?!!!!

Does anyone really trust crytocurrencies? I'm not so sure about them. I don't know, maybe, they will be more secure in the future. I've heard that the Dark Web prefers them, which doesn't help their case much, if, at all.
Mattcheeta
Cryptocurrency and regular currency will co-exist in the future.
Cryptocurrency, and owning your own crypto-wallet means you become your own bank. This is both a good thing and a bad thing.
While it is new technology, there are a lot of scammers looking to exploit those that are unfamiliar with it, and there are a lot of new 'cryptocurrencies' which can be used as "ponzi schemes"/Pump and Dumps"/"Rug pulls".
I think this is a great video that actually helps explain the concepts of Cryptography/Cryptocurrency. (I hope im allowed to post this) https://youtu.be/bBC-nXj3Ng4
Moving forward, I believe things like crypto can be very good for the world, and can improve trust in things like Elections, contracts and other legal issues.
But, it still has a long way to come before real world adoption.

Me have to eat it very fast.

Did they live up to your expectations? I've met Geoffrey Rush and Rutger Hauer (now deceased). The latter was a better experience than the former. It's best not to idolize anyone full stop because we are all human beings.

What's so good about a celebrity? In essence, they are all horribly mixed up; comedians are all unhappy in the main, actors all seem to be married multiple times; they are all on show at all times; they are self-indulgent and so on..
The most important and famous person you can meet is yourself. Try understanding your self; it's amazing what it will do for your self-esteem. You don't have to be on show all the time and you can just be yourself. For want of a better word, it's called personal development.

If we can get 100% support from all citizens in following government regulations, we can defeat this terrible virus. But it needs 100% NOT 99% or less. The ball is now in our court. The pathway to recovery is there and it is achievable. Stay strong and committed to following all government directives and we will surely win.

Its funny, when we all discuss Christmas...there are loads of people who get all worked and upset about it being all about Christ, and people have forgotten the true meaning etc.....Yet when we get to Easter ...another Pagan festival that the Christians stole from it's true owners...Everyone is talking about hot cross buns, chocolate eggs and bunnies...I guess the Christians couldn't come up with anything better.....

Not that long ago... I was just browsing around on the internet, and I came across a penfriend-club. I was surprised! I thought penfriend clubs died out due to the popularity of the internet. It's good that they still exist! Have you ever had a penfriend? Do you currently have one that you write to?
Warrior Woman
As a lonely teen in the UK back in the 50s and 60s I had penpals all over the world. We exchanged postcards, stamps, learnt a bit about languages and other cultures. How exciting it was to receive mail from France, Japan, USA, Italy, Norway, Jugoslavia, the Azores etc. I studied languages at School and Uni and hitchhiked around Europe meeting and mixing wonderful people including my future husband. Now Facebook has replaced letter writing and I love hearing from my many International friends every day.

I save up all my change at the end of the week and it goes into a special bank account for my little volunteer school in a very poor Balinese Village for children whose parents cannot afford the Government school fees. I began it as a kindergarten and it has been going now for 8 years, helped by my fundraising and donations from friends. Whenever I go over to take books, clothing, soccer boots etc., my accumulated bank deposits help pay the school bills. It is run by my Balinese friends who take no money themselves so the children can get a basic education. It is amazing how change does make such a difference to children who have nothing, not even a toy of their own. Covid has meant I cannot get over there since January and my tiny school has closed, waiting until I can get back with what I have saved.

I don't wear glasses but no doubt sometime in the future I'll need them. I'll enjoy my eyesight in the meantime.
Phyrephly
My mother kept telling me I could see fine. From memory, going for an eye test is one of the first things I did "of my own volition." Turns out, I really needed glasses, and sunnies, as I have really bad photophobia, which has steadily gotten worse. On sunny days, I can't open my front door without tearing up. I get headaches and eye pain in bright light.

Why are people so rude on the roads these days, before people used to give way to other people out of being polite. Now days people don't let anybody in, if you try to change lanes, people speed up so you can't If you park at the supermarket car park, once you have finished your shopping, and want to reverse out of your spot, no-one will stop to let you out, I've even had someone go around me, and I was half way out. What is wrong with people these days?

Do you believe healthcare should be free? Or do you think the individual should have to fund it themselves? If so, what are the reasons for your stance?

Totally agree healthcare should be free worldwide. It would actually cut the cost of medications, surgeries etc. People with no health cover are doomed from the start unless they're on a 5 figure salary

Gosh, a woman should be in charge of her own body, it's a basic human right. The patriarchy should have no say whatsoever. I cannot believe in 2020 women are still fighting for reproductive rights. It's like living in the dark ages.
Katzeye
I'm not going to say too much on this subject because enough has been said about it already but I will say that I agree with you Kimberly H.Yes a woman should be in charge of her own body but if you are in a relationship then the discussion of having children or not having children should be talked about between the both of you,not just one sided. If a woman who is single decides to not have children then that is her choice and her choice alone,no one should force her in to motherhood if she does not want to be a mother.I have a few friends who have never had children and they don't regret it.

I fail to see why middle-aged first time mothers are still stigmatised and shamed. I mean lots of women are having children later in life now. I was born to parents in their 40s and 50s and it hasn't done me any harm. I fail to see the issue. And this argument that the older parent may not live long enough to see their child grow up is ludicrous. Disease, addiction, tragedy and dysfunction can strike at any time in life. One can die at any age. Leave these poor women...

People should leave other people alone unless they are hurting someone...All this judgment over everything is just tiresome. Have people got nothing better to do...
